THANK YOU to whoever posted this pic, I never put together that Bunker Hunt was part of the whole Hunt Bros mythology. Dalio writes about him, says he became the wealthiest man in the US, and Dalio decided to take profits and get out. Hunt kept pressing his lock and made many times more, then the trade blew up and Hunt lost everything. I think it was when Volcker's magic kicked in.

To bet against Platinum means to bet against world governments! Google "name of a county" + hydrogen. All major economies are pumping billions into hydrogen and hydrogen cars. Even NASA. Nah, plat is still a PM, but it's a lot more speculative than gold or silver. It has a chance to go wayyyyy high due to rarity, but there's also the chance that nobody is going to want the stuff at all like the Spaniards back in the colonial days. If you have some extra cash lying around and you feel like making a risky bet, by all means buy some plat.

That is false. Ask anyone about Platinum and they will tell you it is more expensive than gold. Platinum in popular culture is the ultimate reward. If everything goes to shit you will not have problem selling. And no, you can't fake platinum, it is so dense you would not belive. Nothing comes close, not gold, not tungsten, not lead. I'd be much more cautious about simply saying things like that. I respect Platinum, believe me, and it's always been basically the unspoken '3rd' PM after Gold and Silver, and before Palladium and Copper
I just think your logic is overly positive/non-critical. Alright, Hydrogen becomes the next big thing, then Plat spikes. I'll tell you right now, Platinum miners ain't going to go up nearly as much as landfill stocks. Why put the effort in to set up new mining operations in South Africa (an extremely unstable country), considering that Platinum production relies on deepground mining, the hard shit with mircoyields (not the comparatively easy surface stuff, where it literally appears in the dirt you walk on) and that Platinum stores are more in industrial warehouses than they are in bullion banks - why put in all that effort, when Pajeet Pai in India, can scrape out 50 waste catalytic converters in a day that got sent over in the last landfill boat and generate more overall pure Platinum at $2 a day ; on top of the fact that the Platinum part of this 'hydrogen cell' would be the most expensive part of it by such a degree that manufacturers will have a vested interest in the non-Plat varient development possibly before the Hydrogen cells go to market to begin with

I get the hype, but I also feel you're pretty new around here. If you want to stack Plat, go right ahead, it's still better than fiat; but in non-economic crash times I've always advised it cut into your Silver stack over your Gold stack as a third diversification; over prioritising it for any real gains. All PMs spike in a crash, Plat isn't special in that regard for stacks.
Just consider that people have thought about this years before you

Boomers are still buying stocks and bonds as they can't see the big picture and think world will just keep going same as before and there is no dollar crisis coming. Zoomers on the other hand are too busy buying meme internet tokens and on a perennial quest hunting for the next 20x shitcoin. However, I am still hopeful that in September either by comex defaulting or by FED starting YCC the boomer rocks will appreciate in value like never before.

Can we talk about Newmont (NEM)?

It's currently profitable, although their last company filings did project a drop in revenue. I'm still looking at why that is, but their 10Ks show less gold produced and sold by a large margin between this year and last. Is this because of higher gold prices? Isn't demand supposed to be higher?

I don't feel the same way about it as some anons do. I don't ever buy government minted coins (with the exception of one of those 5ozt coins from the US mint when it was the closest to spot last week) because the premiums are always higher than anything else. While they have "anti-counterfeiting technology" they are the most counterfeited type of PM. I stack bars and rounds closest to spot. Sometimes I get designer stuff like pic related even though they are very much above spot because of the AESTHETICs.

Do what you will, but I say stack for weight and leave the numismatics to the boomers.

It's not a protection from falling market play, it's a protection from negative interest rates. In the past, it was a fear play, but that was because gold wasn't a tier 1 asset. As of last year, gold is now a tier 1 capital asset on par with cash and Treasuries for meeting liquidity requirements. So if your dollars and Treasuries are losing you real value with steep negative interest rates, gold is MUCH more attractive. This is going to be a very different dynamic to the last financial crisis. The underlying fundamentals and dynamics are very different.

They are going to use the criminal activities that BTC and other cryptos are used for as justification to ban it entirely. The crackdown is coming and it is trivial to force Google and Apple to kick any crypto apps off their app store as it is now "illegal business".

All the more reason why adoption is so important as at this point it's really a race against time.

Yes, there are going to be numerous settlement chains with numerous products built on each filling different niches and use cases. Interoperability is going to be the next frontier. Rather than a single network, it will end up being a patchwork network of interoperable chains. The "currency" aspect will likely end up just being the value of a token as a resource to spend to use the network. National digital currencies will ultimately fill the role of actual cash transfer, both domestically and internationally.

I wouldn't be too sure, crazier things have happened. I could easily see a buy-back scheme being implemented where government sets a deadline to own crypto and exchanges any holdings for worthless Fedcoin. There is precedent for this in the past - Roosevelt's gold confiscation comes to mind and that was during a time people were FAR more redpilled on money and banking than the average person today.

>> No.21400222

Platinum is mostly mined in one single location, which will be consumed by 2040.
It has as much industrial use as silver, while being as rare as gold.
Despite all this, it still only costs half as much as gold.
So if you are willing to hold for 20 years, it will be a great investment in my opinion.

Monero is the only crypto which has a (roughly) correct valuation based on its utility. It was always understood to be a black market currency and is priced as such with no delusions of mass adoption.

Every other crypto bagholder is going to get nuked by the feds when they're ready to roll out FedCoin. They might, MIGHT, give you a chance to surrender it in exchange for their new funny-money. Or they might just tell you to get fucked for "betting against America" and block every lawful business in their jurisdiction (aka the world minus Antarctica) from touching it.

The more normies who are using it, the more likely there will be some amnesty, but I wouldn't want to take those odds, personally.

I think that's more because at the time that records were selling, gold was the best. Then consumer culture ballooned to the point where sales numbers were at previously inconceivable heights. They were hit pretty hard with Corona shutdowns and are still only back to 90% personnel. But I think this silver run is going to bring them into profit. Q2 was half the production of Q2 2019. But with operations coming back up and silver price up substantially, Q3 should be be good...but I guess that could be said for a lot of miners lol.

Nah, you'd need some rich people who are not degenerates. Robert Kiosaki comes to mind, he always shits on bankers and COMEX. But these fuckers literally assassinate people who try to pull that shit off. Silver is their "turf" and other bankers comply by ignorance.

Yeah, I was like this. Wasted my 20-30 (Im 31 now) period, holding fiat (a lot of it) instead of investing into all that shit that was mooning for the last 10 years. Now we're about to crash, so at least that's nice, tabula rasa start for me.
I wouldn't even be here on /biz/ in /pmg/ if not for Rich Dad Poor Dad.

Why? Why can't a bunch of plebs have a couple of contracts each?

Yeah, but are they really going to assassinate 20000 plebs who take delivery of one contract? Strength in numbers.
I can imagine they will kill off some of the bigger guys, maybe Sprott even, but I don't see how they can go after the plebs

Can you send me a link to definition of monetary metals? I tried google with 5 different phrases but it does not seem to be a thing at all. All I can find is some gold and silver shilling websites constantly repeating "platinum is not a monetary metal". Endless feedback loop with missing source of a definition.

I'm 22 and I take this shit seriously and unironically read a lot of economics and finance literature and have predicted 3-4 moon missions in crypto, PMs (the moon mission we are currently in), and equities. Still an irresponsible idiot and spend all of my money.

Stopped doing that recently though as I realise short-term hedonism is never worth it.

One thing to consider is how high does GLD go? If it goes too high, meaning currency crises and bad economics, then there may be nationalization risks. On the flip side, how much gold is actually held by GLD that isn't owned by someone else already? Also, it's pretty manipulated. I have GDXJ, physical gold, and no GLD. That's what I sleep easier with.

Your prefrontal cortex finishes developing and your body starts to require more maintenance, I think. Partying and drinking the night away with NPCs in the pursuit of cheap, young pussy doesn't appeal anymore. Seeking for something greater, I suppose.

The recent LINK pump is not natural and I believe the upwards trajectory was/is driven by FOMO rather than fundamental analysis.

I can't say anything that can give a 10x in the next few weeks as timing this sort of thing is very difficult unless you're a technical analysis magician/charlatan (which I am not since I think it's 75% bullcrap).

I do think the best cryptos are those that have innovative technologies behind them. IOTA and NANO were two moon missions that I was about to pull the trigger on back in 2017/2018 but pussied out in the last moment. Would have had a net worth of a couple million dollars by know. Hindsight is 20/20 etc.

The best cryptos are the ones you rarely hear about but have extremely solid technology behind them.
