As far as I'm aware, index funds themselves cannot be a bubble unless the underlining holdings are in a bubble, such as too much money flowing into large cap companies and ignoring the small and mid caps. I don't believe there is a large cap bubble, technology seems to create companies who get larger market share than those in the past and thus they have a higher valuation. It's nearly impossible to rival the large cap tech companies and often their competitors get bought up long before they have a chance to eat their market share.

A put means the writer will BUY the stock for the strike.
If you write a put for XYZ at strike $11, it means you will BUY 100 XYZ from the option holder for $11.
A "covered" put means that you have enough cash in your account to buy 100 XYZ shares at $11.
If XYZ is priced ABOVE the strike, you don't have to buy anything it the option will expire.
If XYZ goes BELOW $11, that means you have to have $1100 to cover the cost of buying 100 shares at $11.
Owning the stock means nothing when writing a put.

Are airlines a lost cause? Back in march i was expecting a V shaped recovery thinking the covid stuff would be over in a week or two.
That is not the cause and this crisis has shown just how balanced on the edge most major airlines are, their margins are razor thin and most are operating at a loss and getting into debt, i think it will take years airlines specifically to get back at their pre covid level.

Not sure what you mean by "buying directly from their brokerage". Not familiar with US terminology, but I assume by brokerage you mean the fund manager Vanguard?
I think for ETFs, buying them on the exchange means you buy someone else's units at market price.
Buying them from the manager (Vanguard) means they create new units that are issued to you using end of day (NAV) prices.
Doesn't make much of a difference. I'd suggest buying it through the exchange so that you can also sell it through the exchange, which is faster than waiting for the manager to do stuff at end of day.

I have over 100k in liquid assets. Why should I have six months of living expense assets returning 0% when I'd have to sell one month's expenses worth of investments each month to replenish the six months anyway?
