CLSAG is coming in October. Decreases transaction size by 25% and improves verification speed. Big news for scaling.
Next year we will likely have a ring signature update, increasing the sizes of ring signatures at least tenfold, while not sacrificing transactions size.
Other big news is an atomic swap with Bitcoin wasd completed recently and the code for that is being audited. The monero community is then going to create a website/platform for that. This will make it essentially possible for anybody to immediately switch Bitcoin directly for Monero.
