You ever think about just how far we've fallen? A year ago UBI was considered radical, and today I just read a headline to the effect of "the new stimulus won't cover the rent of everyone in America, this is unacceptable". And while I may act smug now, I'm well aware of the suffering this reset will bring.

>> No.21206780

Before the Federal Reserve, in the 19th century, and the early 20th century, we didn't need inflation. Cash was redeemable in silver and gold. This was the Gilded Age, where we had some the most enormous economic growth in history. Taxes were very low, government regulation very minimal, and currency was real money. Deflation is the reward for capitalism. It helps the poor the most. Businesses can adapt. It lowers their input costs. It lowers the cost of labor. The truth is that inflation helps debtors. Who is the biggest debtor? The US government. Inflation steals from main street. It steals from the legitimate private sector economy. Inflation being good is the lie that is taught today.

Stop reading public school propaganda.
Their living standards were much better than the centuries past, and were better than anywhere in the world. You only think they're bad because you compare them to the level of technology and production we have today. This era ended child labor, it massively reduced working hours, it raised real wages. The government did none of these things, the free market did.

>60g sterling silver salt pepper shakers for $40 next to the spoon

Should I have bought it? Its basically slightly under spot but I dont know much about sterling silverware. Shakers had hallmarks but the spoon didnt. But it was a name brand one but forgot.

I'm from the U. K. I have never heard a person talking about gold or silver in all my life. Not in 2006, not in 2011, not now, not ever. Alasdair Macleod, Andrew Maguire, and a few others, are the only British people I know who even talk about gold. People don't give a damn about gold here. Unlike Germany or Switzerland, there is virtually no private ownership. Our gold reserves are also appalling. Brown sold half of them at the bottom of the market. We have a paltry 300 tons left: for comparison, Sweden has 120 tons, and one seventh the size of our population; we also have double their debt. So Britain is undoubtedly going to get wiped out in the coming crisis. In a single generation, socialism has spent the wealth of the greatest empire in the history of man. We have no manufacturing, no savings, no natural resources, and are one of the most heavily indebted countries in the world.

Moneyweek did an excellent documentary a number of years ago called "The End of Britain." Dominic Frisby is the narrator. It was subsequently purged from Youtube. A mirror is still up. It explains, in detail, exactly how dire our situation is. Every single person in Britain should be watching it now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=og4YhOc2f2w

I'm a continental northwest European. Me and a few of my friends are interested in precious metals, but they're not normies. The average working man understands the system is rotten but they haven't figured out that buying gold and silver is a solution.

I have worked at major banks and there are many people who understand that there's something wrong with the financial system. My last job was in private wealth management and all millionaire boomers are moving out of bonds completely, their portfolios consist of 80% to 100% stocks now, and they buy a lot of real estate. They lost bigly after the corona crash. Probably are thinking of gold now.

Look into the London Gold Pool. Very similar to what J. P. Morgan has been doing to silver on the COMEX from 2011 to the present day. The scum in power have been manipulating the price of gold for decades. Brown dumping our reserves was probably part and parcel of their attempted suppression. Either that or it was simply socialist idiocy.

In the same article in which Alasdair Macleod says that the pound will lose almost all its value, he speculates that Germany will break away from the E. U. and create a new currency-bloc backed by gold.

*

"German politics, informed by two currency collapses in the last hundred years, strongly suggests Germany would choose to go it alone with its own gold-backed currency. Far better for Germany to abandon the money side of the European project. This would be a major development, leading to the destruction of the euro. But with the collapse of the dollar and the current ECB management in charge, this would be seen as an increasingly likely outcome for the euro anyway.

If a new German mark had gold backing, the Netherlands would probably join to form the nucleus of a gold-backed bloc. France and Italy have the gold reserves but lack budgetary control. Whichever way it pans out sound money could emerge in Europe, in which case the right economic policies in the UK might have a chance of stabilising the pound, because there would be a basis of comparative valuation for it on the foreign exchanges and a complete monetary collapse might be avoided. But compared with having and deploying credible gold reserves it would be rather like playing league-level football with your shoelaces tied together.

...

Britain faces a difficult time in the next few months. A global banking crisis can be taken as read, requiring the government and the BoE to backstop all banking obligations. The destructive monetary policies of the ECB, with which the BoE has been complicit, should drive Germany to re-establish the mark, hopefully backing it with gold to form the nucleus of a new European sound money regime, but there is no guarantee of this outcome."

Try to remember that there isn't that many very rich coin collectors, when the prices spike, not many will be able to afford, let's say, a golden collection of Queen's Beasts. 10 golden coins in the new paradigm + the full collection premium will only be affordable by the few. It used to be the case that you could delay the inevitable, but our debt is now so enormous, and yields on gilts are so low, that the country simply can't go on much longer. And as we back our currency with U. S. treasuries and not gold, when America goes, we go too. A thing which will happen very shortly. Negative real rates on U. S. treasuries are causing a bond-market crash as we speak, and hence a vicious circle leading to hyperinflation. Tens of trillions per annum will be needed to prop the system up at this point, including regular helicopter money which will be spent into the real economy. You can already see the inflation in things like lumber prices, which are now at an all-time high, as well as in the most prominent example, gold.

Yeah a lot of new bullion coins and rounds are hard to take seriously. On the other hand, even the plainest old junk often looks fancy in a way either modern bullion coins or circulating currency often doesn’t.

Probably just uncirculated, or sat in someone’s drawer or behind a couch for years rather than getting passed around and dinged up. Just do a simple ping test: sit the coin on the tip of your finger and see how it sounds when you hit it, if it has a nice musical ring it’s probably silver.

I'll probably just dollar avg, I mean eventually I'll still profit even if I bought now. But I prefer to have something than have nothing. I thought the same way about physical and all of a sudden it went through the roof. I also expect a bigger wave in the winter judging by the spanish flu data, but even if there's a big pullback in october and november, who knows where it's going to begin. It might turn out that buying now is still better.

I put almost everything I could spare in physical, I don't have much for miners so I have to pick carefully and after last weeks dip, I think VZLA has excellent value. Aurcana and DSV are also on my radar, but thanks for the tip.

DSV is definitely a safe choice among the small-caps. It has already pumped, but it's one of Eric Sprott's largest investments; he has gone all in on it. It has 1 billion ounces of silver in the ground, so, if you think that the GSR really is going to 1:15, it is never too expensive to buy.

Given that silver went to 50 when gold was 1920, I'd expect it to be at 60 or so if gold is already over 2000. That said we're just beginning so I expect both metals to go significantly up in the next year or two, so my price target for silver would be 3 digits and for the GSR around 25-30, 15 is too low imo. That's why I'm currently thinking Vizsla, but by the time I can actually spend the money, I might opt for DSV if the stock has soared.

Vizsla is more speculative than DSV. Already pumped 500% because of some good drilling, but needs to prove itself now with further drill results. That's why we saw the price plummet recently, below even what Eric Sprott paid for it. DSV already has a billion ounces in the ground, demonstrably. So if I had to make a choice myself between one or the other, I'd choose DSV. But I own both stocks.

I think proof coins are underrated. Takes more work to create a proof coin and they are much harder to fake. A proof coin is more man made and adds an extra bit of human touch to the process and are more rare. Thats why I dont mind paying the extra premium once in a while

I have to do a bit more reasearch before I buy, but the way I see it, DSV is at an ATH, whereas VZLA has gone from 2,75 CAD to 1,94 CAD recently so I wanted to "buy the dip".

But as I said if it pumps at goes over 2,20 CAD I'd also prefer to get DSV.

By the way do you think MUX is worth it? It has a long history and has definitely proven itself worthy in previous bull markets.

>> No.21214889

>>21214792

If you "See the future," as Eric Sprott says, DSV is one of the cheapest stocks in the history of the world. GSR of 1:15 would make their billion ounces of silver equivalent to 72 million ounces of gold. That's the amount of gold in all the gold mines which Newmont Mining has combined; and Newmont is the only mining company in the S&P 500. If you buy DSV then you know that you have that billion ounces, demonstrably. All you have to do is sit on the stock and wait. Whereas Viszla might find nothing more in their drilling results, and not really go anywhere further. In evaluating the cheapness or expensiveness or a stock, the fundamentals are the really important thing, and not simply the recent price-action. With DSV you have a sure thing; it's going 100x if you really do think that the GSR is reverting to normality. Whereas Viszla, to outperform it, depends on a GSR reversal + good drilling results.

Yes, MUX is one of my largest positions, after DSV and Tinka.

Its because of rising real yields. I have been saying this on /pmg/ for a week now but people still seem unable to catch onto that most obvious trend.
Gold goes up when real yields go down and vice versa. Right now real yields are rallying and so people move their money out of gold into treasuries and bonds.

Yeah that's a good point. I like what Sprott is saying but as I said, I'm a bit humbler.

I have one additional concern about DSV and that is that according to ceo.ca forum Oxygen group tend to sell their companies right before production or immediately after. I know it will be bought probably at a premium so as inverstors we'll also profit, but I personally think with the incoming bull market they should hold onto it. The discussion I'm referring to is on the PGM channel, found it since I also hold PGM.

Sprott owns 20% of the company, so might prevent a buyout. His position in it is absolutely enormous. Last time I looked, it was over 60 million dollars. He only has a billion dollars of net-worth.

Yeah I hope so too, but there's always the off chance. He seems very enthusiatic about the markets right now.

But yeah, I'm gonna think about it in the coming days. I'm also thinking about putting some money into some ETF as well, say GDXJ, just as an insurance of a sort. Is that worth it?

I always tell most people to buy GDXJ and SILJ just because the average person is liable to get wiped out by small-caps. I personally only buy small-caps, but that's only because I feel confident in doing so. You will make less money in GDXJ, but you will be insulated from any risks associated with individual miners. Whether you buy it or not depends on your appetite for risk vs reward.

Basically I'm willing to take risk, since my investment is not so big and even if I lose money, I'd be able to recover what I've lost pretty fast, since I'm in my early 20s so it's not like my whole life's savings are on the line, but I also like hedging my bets. Currently I'm opting for small caps cause the potential losses are covered by my physical position but later on I might put some into SILJ ord GDXJ.

Thanks for the tips man.
