Aquafresh here.
I just finished my history MA and got a part-time job in a research project. I tried to get a PhD, but that didn't work out yet and I'm getting more and more doubts about an academic career.
Since my new job is part-time, I have plenty of free time. I can do a second part-time job, but almost everything I'd earn there I'd have to pay in taxes, so that's not going to happen. Instead, I'd like to start a business on the side. It's not for the money, since I can survive on my salary, but just in case I lose interest in academia. It'd be nice to have some extra cash though.

What would you recommend I do to just start a business? I can try out a couple of things if it doesn't cost me too much money.

Something about myself
>Quite into history (especially 19th century),
>Bilingual Dutch-Portuguese (mom's Brazilian)
>Not completely inept on the subject of economics (compared to my friends from the humanities department)
>Not the most handsome so jobs involving my looks are off the list (even foot model).
Ask me anything you want to know.

Some earlier plans I had:
>Webshop with merchandise of Dutch naval heroes / other historical figures
>Political podcast / news review with a friend (99% sure this would cost us both our jobs)
>Breed guinea pigs (I realised there's almost no market when trying to get rid of the first babies).
