This is so true. I tell people this all the time that you can't save what you don't have. People making <25k year talking about investing it's like dude you could save 100% of everything you ever make, live with your parents until you're 50, and walk everywhere but guess what, the guy who's taking home 200k can save 15% and spend the rest on absolute junk and still be out pacing you.
I still think it's important to have money working for you, even if it's in a lame ass index fund that gets you 5% a year after inflation because you may eventually want to take a moonshot. That's what I did and it paid off but you don't know if you're ever going to get that moonshot. I just wanted to be prepared for it if I could.
