Think of Vine like Myspace and Tik Tok as Facebook

>> No.21011860

I think the ability to add music clips from any song and the higher level of interaction with other users (doing duets, sampling others audios, dances etc.) puts it in a different level than vine. Also the algo is super accurate. For example, you start liking vids of crackheads in 7-11, you're algo will present to you the only best 7-11 crackhead clips.

the correct answer is their immense expense to host all of the video combined with an inability to monetize the platform. this is basically the same for most social media type apps. twitter has almost never been profitable, snap is not profitable, hell even netflix loses millions every quarter.

It was too early. Thots weren't full blown due to hypergamy being in its infancy. Online dating was around but tinder wasn't popular yet. It was mostly used for making funny clips, not dumb whores dancing to shitty music so they could show off their body.

Infinite money from chinese government is how they stay afloat. Tik Tok did fail, it was known as Musical.ly before and it died because it had no business model. I know because they came to our offices in Shanghai to pitch and try and get investment. Anyway, someone else bought it and my company missed a trick I guess.

Besides, due to the large scale boycott by it's highest user countries like India didn't harm them coz they switched to crypto campaigns which bought them really HUGE Revenues!

The thing about Vine becoming the internet’s premier tool for making short-form videos is that it happened almost completely by accident. Its founders had envisioned their tool for making 6-second clips as a way to help people capture casual moments in their lives and share them with friends. It was part of their pitch to Twitter, which bought the company for a reported $30 million in October 2012, seeing it as a near-perfect video analog to its flagship app’s short-form text posts.

And yet even before the app launched, users had taken the 6-second constraint as a creative challenge. Something about that loop — the way a Vine endlessly rewound itself after completing, like a GIF with audio — encouraged people to put the app to strange uses. “It was surprising,” said Dom Hofmann, who founded Vine with Rus Yusupov and Colin Kroll four months before Twitter bought it. “Our original beta had something like 10 or 15 people on it, and even with that small group we started to see experimentation pretty early on.”

Within weeks, it appeared that Vine probably would never become the everyday video sharing tool its founders had envisioned. Instead it became something wilder — and much more culturally interesting. “It became pretty clear as soon after we launched,” Hofmann said. “Watching the community and the tool push on each other was exciting and unreal, and almost immediately it became clear that Vine’s culture was going to shift towards creativity and experimentation.”

I was reading a story where some dude met this girl on tinder and ended up finding out where she worked after she ghosted him. He came in and tried to talk to her and she literally called the police on him. Mind you, that guy was autistic/creepy as fuck, but now he might have his life ruined on stalking charges for literally just trying to talk to a girl once. After she told him to fuck off, he never came back or anything, but is still somehow a stalker and not just an autist. The girl telling the story was of course acting like this guy merely trying to talk to her was panic attack worthy or some shit.

Perversely, they are reinforcing the alpha male position by harassing marginal men who just want a woman.

Law enforcement are framing incels and are giving their profiles to the CIA to turn them into manchurian candidates.

NEVER let people see your sexuality as desperate. They can intentionally misnterpret desperate as dangerous.

While that is interesting, that doesn't really explain why it got shut down. Google was first just a research paper. Facebook was first just for Harvard college students. The fact that a project evolves into something else doesn't mean it should get shut down, in fact it means that they discovered a fucking goldmine and should have kept it going.

The reason Vine got shut down is because of faggot Twitter board members that wanted to focus on profitability and thus getting rid of cash burn businesses like Vine.
