in the same menu where you can see that, you'll also see how much you need to spend/how long you need to wait before you can buy more.

I could originally only purchase $250/week as well. after I spent x dollars ($325 or something?) I had to wait 30 days for the new limit to kick in.

Well in 15 days your limit will increase. Mine increased from $250 to $1000 after spending like $5000 in total using coinbase. Try Kraken it’s cheaper fees and the limits are like $100k or something

use shakepay if you just want to get some btc or eth quickly, you need to use etransfer though, you can do $5k at a time. Then you can transfer that to an exchange for linkies

Isn't transferring one crypto to another a taxable event though?

>> No.20981165

>>20981010
I don't think so. I don't see why transferring btc from one btc wallet you own to another btc wallet that you own doesn't seem like a taxable event. As for actually trading your crypto on the exchange I have no idea

I have 1000 limit as well in leaf land.
Contacted customer support and asked them to raise it. They said they couldn’t due to regional regulations here.
Pissed me off. Looking for better options now as well..

Okay I found the answer: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/programs/about-canada-revenue-agency-cra/compliance/digital-currency/cryptocurrency-guide.html

---

Example 3: Trading one type of cryptocurrency for another:
On July 30, 2018, Francis bought 100 units of Ethereum, which had a value of $20,600. For this purchase, Francis used 2.5061 Bitcoins, which were trading at $8,220 per unit on that day, or the equivalent of $20,600. We consider that Francis disposed of those Bitcoins. Francis originally bought those Bitcoins for $15,000 and exchanged them for 100 units of Ethereum at a value of $20,600, resulting in a capital gain. It is calculated as follows:

$20,600 [fair market value of 2.5061 Bitcoins at the time of transaction]

- $15,000 [adjusted cost base of 2.5061 Bitcoins, their original purchase price]

$5,600 capital gain

$5,600 capital gain taxed at 50% = $2,800 taxable capital gain

If, on the other hand, the original purchase price of the 2.5061 Bitcoins had originally been $25,000, but at the time that Francis exchanged them for 100 units of Ethereum they were worth only $20,600, he would have a capital loss. It is calculated as follows:

$20,600 [fair market value of 2.5061 Bitcoins at the time of transaction]

- $25,000 [adjusted cost base of 2.5061 Bitcoins, their original purchase price]

$4,400 capital loss

$4,400 capital loss × 50% = $2,200 allowable capital loss

This example assumes that the cryptocurrency in question was held as an investment on account of capital; however, if this transaction occurred in the course of conducting a business, the entire amount of $5,600 would need to be reported as income in the first transaction and the entire $4,400 would be reported as a loss in the second transaction.

---

So basically you buy some link with BTC and then later trade it back to BTC, and the value of the BTC in CAD is more than when you bought the link, then it's considered capital gains. or if it's less it's capital loss

also you could use a decentralized exchange so the CRA can't audit your crypto trades, you wouldn't have to pay taxes unless you cash back out to CAD, because of this
>Possessing or holding a cryptocurrency is not taxable
only trading and cashing out is taxable. If they don't know you traded and you don't cash out, then no taxes. It might be in your interest to report capital losses though

I just realized their example doesn't make sense, if you buy some BTC at 5k then some more at 8k, then the price goes to 10k and you buy ETH, how do they know which BTC you bought the ETH with? it only makes sense when trading whole amounts. auditing this stuff must be a complete nightmare for them

I hate this goddamned country so much.
What are some other options?
Assuming one ‘makes it’?
Bank accounts in Singapore?
It sickens me to give another fucking $ to the CRA. Let alone potentially tens of thousands of dollars.

safex is a scam

>> No.20981906

for now just don't cash out, and don't make trades on an exchange that is tied to your identity. You will have to do this
>buy btc normally
>trade it for a privacy coin like monero (or you can buy it directly if the exchange/on-ramp offers it)
>send monero to an exchange that is not tied to your identity
>trade it for BTC or whatever shitcoins you want
>transfer your shitcoins off the exchange to somewhere secure, and not easily traceable to you

This way the CRA only knows you're buying BTC from the on-ramp and trading for the privacy coin (it's not taxable if you do it immediately since you're not gaining anything). They have no way to tell what you're doing with it or where it's going after that. They can't tax anything, as simply holding crypto is not taxable and as far as they're aware that's all you're doing. Cashing out would be a separate issue but I'm assuming by the time we make it, we'll be able to use crypto for day to day life

Thankyou.
What would be the best exchange to use that values privacy?
This is why GHOST seemed appealing to me..
