Look straight into the eyes of your opponents, and you'll be able to tell whether they have it or not. Then act accordingly.

Just learn how to play .01/.02 online and beat it for 20bb/100. You'll crush any local 1/2 game.

this. play cheap online tables enough to learn mechanics, winning hands given the cards on the table, and calculate rough out odds for your hand. puts you well ahead of most casual people

I watched some video blogs of a guy who retired from poker. He had marks who he would specifically target. There was a chinese guy he found who had no idea what he was doing and threw away hundreds of thousands every time he played. The guy was in Germany and would wake up at obscene hours just to snipe this guy's tables by setting alerts on his phone.

Seriously though OP, if you ever come back to the thread send me an e-mail and we can discuss which sites you should play on and how to avoid various pitfalls most beginners fall into as well as many rules of thumb I've come up with in my 15 years of playing poker.

I agree with this gentlemen. If you commit yourself to learning basic fundamentals(pots odds, implied odds, position, ranges, and post flop play) then you will make it very far. It can can seem overwhelming at first, but poker is a lot of fun and can be somewhat rewarding if you are willing to stick with it.

Phil Helmuth has good vids on YouTube to learn tournament poker. You’ll lose a lot less money playing tourneys that’s my advice to you... ive won tournaments with 400+ players due to sticking to the basics and using psychology

It really depends on the game. Anyone can teach you the rules, but there's a certain something you either have or you don't. It's almost like a 6th sense. Without it the best you can hope to do is be a tournament player. Winning cash players all have that edge even if they don't realize they have it.

2 digits was all I needed. I was consistently winning $15 double or nothing 8 player tourneys. Ps. It’s not even hard
