20905295 No.20905295 [Reply] [Original]

Current situation:
~500k owed on a 1.2 million dollar house, just refinanced at 3% fixed 30yr.
~$270k cash total (30k in checking, 240k in a high yield saving account - which is no longer high yield due to interest rates)
~9k in a Robinhood account invested in BRK.B and gold stocks.
~10k in a Roth IRA my parents setup for me before they passed, I don't really know how this is setup. It doesn't seem a appreciate much.
~6k gold and silver coins at current values, inherited from my grandmother.
~I own one bitcoin since 2016, I forget what I paid for it, I think a couple hundred bucks. I plan on keeping it for a very long time.
~truck is paid for (old but runs great), student loans are paid, no other debt besides the house
~My cash reserves after expenses are approximately 1,000 per month right now, less than before because I'm paying my little sisters rent for her until she can get back on her feet. She isn't lazy and is competent so I believe she'll be back on her own dollars soon.

1) With all this talk of inflation, should I just pay my minimums on the mortgage? I normally pay it off a bit faster (more like at a 15-20yr pace). I have no early payment penalties.
2) How should I start investing more? What type of portfolio makes sense?
3) I dislike Robinhood and want to try TD-Ameritrade, is the transfer really hard tax wise?
4) The Roth IRA with 10k in it, can I transfer that to TD-Ameritrade to invest it myself? Are those transferable?
5) Can I have both a Roth IRA account at TD-Ameritrade and a cash account? I don't want all my invested money to not be usable until I'm 59.5years old

Buy AMD, TSM, NVDA, MSFT, AMZN, HD, NAIL, COST, GS, DOCU and SOXL if you want extra semi-conductor exposure. This portfolio will bring you nice returns. Just hold and check every month but don't sell for a year at least.

My house was recently appraised, because of the re-finance, for nearly 1.5 million, so, I actually think it has been a pretty good investment. But yeah, paying interest sucks.

buying a house is probably the best investment anyone can do. cause after 50 years you will have something you can actually sell. imagine renting out something all your life instead of buying it?

I don't know that I'm a savvy enough investor to buy individual stocks and know what I'm doing. I'd love to learn. I actually bought some books recently.

I've been buying BRK.B slowly over time because it seemed reasonable... but really in small amounts. Gold and silver is up now but when I first bought it, it crashed lol, so I know how that goes.

A lot of /biz/ will shill you their shitcoin flavours of the day. Depending on your goals and risk tolerance they may be okay to flip for thousands. Most are not longterm holds and some will run away with your money. You are already well off, but if you wish to protect against inflation consider more crypto or more precious metals. Personally with your cash supply I would enter the crypto market and stock market and not touch it for a long time. Always DYOR on what you invest in.

I'm aware of what interest is like, although my rate is significantly better than his calculated number and I paid significantly more than 20% down (I paid more than 50% down). My payment is roughly what a moderate condo rental would be in my area... only instead I'm living in a comfy house with a yard and garage - plus i'll eventually own it.

He also is ignoring inflation...

>>20905823
I will do lots of reading of course, but, how do I enter? I slowly trickle money into positions?

I looked up what gold and silver are at now and they are at all time highs for what I've owned, is it a bad time to be buying more?

Yes, that is because you are renting, you just got fooled by the kike bankers using a different word, "mortgage". It's the same shit, you don't own your house, they do. You think you own your house because you are allowed to put a fucking nail in the wall compared to your renting buddies? That nail is gonna cost you 50x compared to them if you don't pay your mortgage.

Sell your shit, pay your debt and stop feeding the kikes.

Whatever profit you make now they will rake the top of, and when you blow your shit on some no-name-shit-coin and cant pay your interest rates. They will take your house and you get even more in debt for that fucking nail you thought you were so free to hammer in the wall.

30yr fixed rate is good. Imo pay the minimum because if real inflation is > 3%, you are effectively shorting the USD and the bank is paying you instead

Yes, I'll move my Roth IRA out to my own broker so I can handle the allocation myself. I use m1finance. The traditional 70-30 allocation is passe and will only end in tears.

I put a most of my assets into precious metals (my net worth is less than you). Lots in Sprott trusts (PHYS & PSLV) which metals are held by the Royal Canadian Mint. (GLD & SLV are JP Morgan & HSBC scams). I also invested in SGDJ & SILJ etf to gain gold and silver junior miners exposure. Opened an account with Interactive Brokers so I can gain access to TSX (toronto stock exchange) and invest in micro miner stocks.

Legal disclaimer: I am not your broker and you are responsible for whatever outcome you get if you parrot me. Remember to do more research and good luck.

A monkey can buy stocks anon. Just pick a broker you like and buy each of those companies I listed on dips over time. Split your capital evenly between them. When the stock goes down buy more. Don't sell until you have held shares for a year and even then don't sell unless you really need to buy something that you can't cover with your Mcjob. That portfolio won't be boomer tier stable but it's pretty future proof and leans towards growth.

Slowly entering into positions would be an effective strategy. It is truly nearly impossible to tell where we're going. Assuming youre investing in something solid for a very long period of time you should be fine entering it. But I would recommend DCA. For example I was new to investing and bought most of my link for .80 near SIBOs and it crashed down to $.20 over the next few months. I would be up a magnitude of 4x had I waited a bit longer. As for PM's being a bad time to enter because of ATH. Possibly, but it is at an ATH because of inflation concerns. If inflation truly becomes an issue you will not likely care about your entry point into it. If you bought the top then it will suck but generally those arent volatile assets anyways.

With your Roth IRA also max out annual contributions so you can reduce taxes. Same thing with maxing out 401k, HSA, FSA

Your IRA is the only retirement money because social security & pension systems are all collapsing

You need to compare your house price to the price of gold. You realise it doesn't matter if your house is worth 3 million USD if they inflate the currency to be worthless

It's difficult to say, since we're in such uncertain economic times. But assuming we're talking about stocks the general trend since inception of the market has been up. Look at data from SPY and acknowledge that based off past performance dips will recover over a long period of time. Personally I'm a big believer of crypto long term and most of my money is in that market. But it's a completely new market that has only been around for a few years. It's easier to get rich or go broke in crypto than other markets. I wouldnt take a long time to enter into crypto if you think there is a future in it longterm. A year in crypto is 100 in the stock market. Btc was 4000$ in march it's close to 12k today, tomorrow it could be 4k or 50k

Congratulations on the house! It's a lot of work to buy a house, and stressful. I couldn't believe the paperwork for my mortgage.

I'm an engineer that gets hired by venture capitalists to research manufacturing companies they wish to invest seed money into: usually consumer electronics lately but kinda all over the map. My parents left me the 10 grand in that IRA and my grandma left me what is now worth about 6k in precious metals.

>>20907222
I own one bitcoin I bought for a few hundred a while back, that's all I own now. I don't know anything about Chainlink other than seeing the occasional meme posted on other boards, I'll take a look into that. My issue with crypto is I don't really understand what people are investing in. I've watched the technology videos and some of them can do interesting things, but, it's not like a company where I can look at EBIDTA or something and get an idea of if I want to invest in it. My bitcoin purchase I considered a gamble.

>> No.20907714

>>20907364
I would recommend reading up on Chainlink and Ethereum. It is certainly more speculative in that you're not pouring over the company financials like you would with a company you're researching for VC investment but I think the potential of what they're building could really transform most online transactions.
