yes, but for you to overcome the potential of any benefit it provides you need to have 1) full time 2) learn some skill hobby or otherwise 3) have side hussle which utilises the hobbies you get from 2. 4) learn to trade

Credentialism is a scam. College can still be useful for entering a specific field or networking.

Picture yourself driving a car without insurance: if she hits the fan, you're fucked.

Car is your life, insurance is college. You can still drive your car your whole life without having a problem, but are you ready to face a problem when it happens?

Yeah? An experienced truck loader? Or experienced burger flipper? And then once you'd think you'll get promoted, a fuckwit with lower skill set than yours gets it because they are more educated and can actually have a conversation with others.

As always, it depends. If you need a degree to get hired or taken serious in a field, go and get it. Can't be a doctor or an engineer without a degree. If you go because you think that a degree is Alternative Music will save you, then it's a financial ruin.

That hard part about being an engineer is that the average Joe really doesn't give a fuck about your contribution. I work the the public utility sector, we get shit on for being bad for the environment all the time, but God forbid your heat is off longer than 15 minutes at any given time.

Education was invented to have the perfect balance of knowledge for the jobs that were out there. It then morphed into indoctrination once they figured out that children take anything you tell them at face value.

College is not a scam, but the promise going to college and leaving with no work experience is. Even if it takes you 6 years, if you have been working full time and perhaps gotten in a management position when you get your diploma you will be set.

Explain to me why a bunch of mid-twenty year olds would be considered for management positions. There's a fleet of Baby Boomers holding there positions with no sign of stepping down, plus Gen X is also in the market. Many college students somehow assume that management is waiting them them specifically to make an entrance.

If you are a hard worker it is not difficult, my dad became a Foreman after only about 5 years, and I am being being considered for a management position at a warehouse to oversee about 70 employees. It does not need to be anything high level, they just want to make sure you can do the work(education) and you are competent(experience).

Of course it is, but that is for younger children and adults. Why do you think schools are ready to take you to court if YOUR kid misses 1 day of school without a valid reason, while they don't give 2 flying fucks whether you do college/uni?

Interesting. I work in a field where people have an average period of employment of 30 years. They join at an early age and stay there for most of their career. Coming in new and aiming for a management position is an uphill battle, since everyone who came before you is aiming for the nice corner office.

Any high demand industry will have lots of opportunity, but hard work pays off. You have to bust your ass day in and day out if you want to move up, 100% all of the time. If you are just getting by then you will never move up, there are guys that work the same position with mild promotions for 40 years, and there are guys that go balls to the wall and get promotion after promotion every few years.
