I got pwned in the ledger leak. Full name, address, phone number, everything. Did I just win a free torture session like that? What should I do to stay safe?

No, If you live Burgmerica you are fucked if you do this. Castle doctrine doesn't apply now until the intruder is literally in your face with a gun about to fire. And forget about getting away with it if the invader is black because you'll get Zimmerman'd.

However if you don't live in the economic zone of North America you should be fine.

Do the plausible denial trick:

Use ledger with seed+password: put on 80% on it

Put 20% on ledger with seed anf no password.

This smells like bullshit. Castle doctrine has never been an official law and it would be absolutely retarded to have stricter enforcement of the idea than someone posing a threat to you outside of your own home.

seriously OP, if you really believe that the fact someone own a ledger makes them a target for serious criminals, that's kinda deluded (but bullish af). There's millions of hardware wallets being sold, people buy them in stores as well have you ever herd of someone being followed home from a store after buying a hardware wallet? A lot of people lose money on crypto as well, and at the same time we are nearing a time where it can almost be assumed hat anyone with serious money (think of laywers, financial/stockbroker guys, succesful tech startups whatever) owns crypto as well.

Remeber that Ocean's 16 movie, where they set up this whole operation to rob this guy who has a ledger and in the end there was only like $5k on there? No? That's because it never happens, anyone serious enough to put up a pro squad would only go after confirmed and vulnerable millionaires. You are marginally in more danger than any guy who rides a Tesla and has a hot girl with a Gucci bag with him.

Yeah sure it sucks, but get your shit together and don't paranoiasperg out on this nothing will happen UNLESS you actually are ad look rich, in which case you are still only marginally more at risk than before.

think about it from a government perspective. you have a convenient small (relative to government resources) database of people. you can make a list of all these addresses, look up internet history/IP logs, figure out what wallet the IP correlates to, get record of all wallet activity, sort by highest value to lowest value. start at the top for knocking on doors about "criminal activity" or "tax evasion"

"yeah but crypto is easier to sell" nigga I'm anyone who can smuggle arms around and assemble a pro squad of killers is going to be able to sell some gold or ransom money on the black market, if anything they'll probably mistrust crypto because it might have some inherent FBI shit in it

all your information is public on the internet, including very sensitive data entered in "safe" forms where you're logged in

you shall have a spreadsheet listing every domain that has what, try to reduce this list as close to 0 as possible, amazon is very handy as a "digital/physical" interface, since it's general, chances that someone will know you bought a ledger are low

when you're finished using a service, you shall ask to have your data removed and have a confirmation

non EU citizens btfo, gdpr is great for us, we can access all our data and bully companies if they refuse kek imagine how it feels (great)

I think the idea of roving gangs of raiders pulling up to your house and torturing you for your buttcorns is a meme. However, there are still certain things I'd do to improve security. For one, make sure you have a sturdy safe hidden away somewhere in your home, and keep your ledger, seed phrase, etc in there at all times. Have a gun, not because I honestly think you'd need to use it, but because you should have one anyway tbqh.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, make sure your cyber security is on-point. The biggest threat isn't people coming to your house. It's people targeting your online accounts with hacking/phishing/etc. Change all your passwords, make sure they're secure, make sure there's no sensitive info on your normiebook or anything like that, all that shit.

>> No.20863291

>>20859842
Incorrect. When you're allowed to shoot someone in self defense varies from state to state. States with castle doctrine are those where any invader can be shot if they enter your home. Those without castle doctrine are typically "duty to retreat" in which case it's only allowed when you have no alternative. And IIRC there are even a few states that have an extended form of castle doctrine where you're allowed to put someone down even outside your home, but don't quote me on that.
