The whole point of the COVID freak out has been elites diverting attention from this economic implosion while they print 10 trillion dollars to try and restart the whole thing....i think the plan is to try and inflate the debt away and blame it all on COVID and not decades of central banks pumping up a debt bubble...

I learned the last crisis to never bet against the central banks. They have immense power over the economy and the willpower to make this continue. Now, what does that mean? It means NIRP. Not formal NIRP, but ZIRP with high inflation. This may provide a soft reset and devalue a lot of debt. So this is a good thing if you have assets and debt. It's a bad thing if you don't have any assets. This will make rich people richer and poor people poorer. It's going to decimate cash savings. It's going to result in real wage decreases. But I do think they will be able to inflate deflation away. It's their stated goal now and they have the printing press.

What you say sadly does not make sense. If there is a stock market wipe-out, along with bank bail-ins, everyone will be selling their exotic investments to either A) survive, in case they got destroyed in the rest of the market B) buy up the rest of the market cheaply. For this reason, I'm thinking to sell this local "top" in Bitcoin and go all-in cash or some very safe bonds for the time being.

Hmm, maybe. But worse come to worse, you still need to go through exchanges if you want to sustain on BTC. And the government in a time of crisis can easily ban any bank deposits from such exchanges, to prop up their own currency.

>go through exchanges
Owned BTC for 8 years and have never used an exchange. Banning bank deposits, which would never happen, wouldn't solve anything, instead it would make cash flow OUT of BTC much more difficult for the newcoiners and morons that use exchanges, and would only increase government distrust, which would certainly not prop up a governments currency. And a strong dollar is why China has beaten the US. The goal now is for the Fed to print like mad to weaken the dollar as we bring manufacturing back to the states. Weaker dollar benefits exports and equities because cash in a savings account isn't worth the thought while interest rates are low. But they are low to encourage investment. Trump spent years of his term labeling China as a currency manipulator, which meant nothing, and instead is using COVID as an excuse to devalue.

>>20857973
Crypto and PMs are bullish simply because of printing and stimulus. Savings accounts are worthless and interest rates will stay low until inflation starts showing up in a couple years, at which point inflation will pay off cheap debt or will inflate equities, pms and crypto. Either way investments win, cash loses. It's not fleeing the "western economy" it's fleeing of government controlled and printed fiat. China is developing a state digital currency and I'm sure the US will follow the same route. In mean time print the bubble because it doesn't need to pop if you replace it entirely.

And precious metals are surely in for a surprise when the gold stops being delivered. They can wipe their ass with paper gold at least.

>>20859211
US hegemony is the only thing collapsing, which means instead of trying to keep the power over the world we took after WW2, we can focus inward. If the US were to "collapse" or balkanize it would be from within and the value of the dollar would have very little to do with it.

City real estate is already popping, suburban and rural real estate is where the demand is shifting which will require building new houses instead of buying existing ones. One day if you're lucky you might own property, and when you own property you pay property tax. Every year. Governments already make money off of property and it has nothing to do with immobility. Did you know if you own a car you pay taxes, every year? Shocking I'm sure, you might get to that point someday in your life.
