Peter Schiff is not a simpleton, he is just old. He grew up with the abandonment of the gold standard, Gold peaked and he became rich from it.
He is frozen in time, all the knowledge he has have become a burden that prevents him from understanding the world he currently lives in.

He is a walking reminder that in terms of your understanding of economy and the markets, there is such a thing as prime and "over the hill".
