Yes, the elite though stupid as fuck are slowly all coming round to the fact if China gains dominance they won't believe in human rights or globalism. They will "harmonize" the western elites if they gain power just like with Tibet and Xinjiang. Keep in mind chinese actions so far have been done under pressure of global press. Once they have an upper hand they will will be even more brutal with opponents.

It won't be handshakes and "well you get economic advantage" when China wins. It will just be China and nothing else left.

It's kind of funny that at the peak of social justice outrage culture China is rising as a nazi-germany like imperial force with global domination as goal and no qualms about human rights at all.

Land is one thing that will only go up in value. If your lucky and you got some valuable thing in the ground, or a road wants to go thru it, or walmart comes knocking, you can basically say "pay up bitches" and they'll do it. This one dude owned a nice plot of land, nice and flat. Walmart came knocking. It was the only place suitable. Right outside the city limits yet still close by the major roads. So Walmart could duck paying the local tax. Dude was smart. He didn't sell the land, he leased it. He gets a nice fat check each month. Walmart didn't have a choice if they wanted to build the store it was his land or nothing.

Way less profitable if you win. Way more profitable if you "lose".

Writing covered calls is like stock holding+. You get .5% for a slightly OTM call and some more premiums for writing naked puts. It's a long term winning strategy that involved little planning and has nice weekly returns.

If you want then try writing naked puts on some companies you could afford, turn around and sell covered calls. Stuff like SNAP for example.

If you know what they are you don't use them, if you are actually using them you are not operating through a normal broker, and if you don't know what they are the brokers rightfully keeps you away from them.

It is more about increasing margins and reducing costs there and any technical expertise can be contracted out. It is just those same investors than look for those same kinds of people in very tech heavy fields.

Hows this for a financial strategy?

>Have 50k in the bank
>Move 25k into a blue chip dividend stock
>Lets say it's 200 dollars a pop, totaling about 125 shares
>Dividend is $1 per quarter, so I get $500 a year
>Stock could go up or down, but I want those divvies
>I want to protect my original 25k if the stock goes down
>Buy a put that expires 2 years from now, guaranteeing me the right to sell my 25k at the price I bought it
>Cost is about $2000, so the divvies pay for half of it. 25 shares are at risk
>If the stock did grow then I made money, but I wore a condom while doing it.
>If I don't plan on there being much growth over the years (Think Chevron or Exxon) I can write a covered call expiring in two years
>Premium is another $2000, so I walk away with +1000, so basically the output of my dividends
>Those 25 shares total to $5000, so now only $4000 is at risk for this play and only if the stock drops to $0
>Little risk of them exercising a call early since they paid for all of that theta.

Swap out all of the dividend nonsense with just buying growth stocks. Premiums will be higher for the calls and lower for when you buy the puts. You likely won't see 2 year out options but will for a year out. I guarantee any dividend ticker you are thinking about here is inferior to doing the exact same thing with, say, NFLX.

iv affects the stock option volatility and price
the higher iv an option has, the higher volatility is priced in the option
usually after earnings the IV gets priced out, reducing potential profits and lowering option pricing.
this is becomes apparent when the option goes against you in combination with an iv crush. the price of that option reduces to almost zero on near dated options.

I think covid 19 will likely come to have started or accelerated certain trends. I think shopping malls, which were already on the cusp, are now in secular decline. Same with movie theaters. Airline travel is going to be redefined again like in the years after 9/11. Good or bad, there was also a seismic shift in the overton window about UBI that will likely play out later this next decade. There might be a similar shift in work culture that will trickle down from tech as do to "forced exposure" to work from home.

corona NEET bux is also the reason that unemployment stays high.
Here in Canada, why bother trying to find a job when in most cases (people who lost the jobs in the first place would be at min wage) they'd get more money just collecting CERB especially when CERB is much more broad compared to regular unemployment insurance (no need to document you are willing to work and actively looking for a job). if and when that happens is still a long way. Retailers are not making a profit with e-commerce alone. Brick and mortar shops (in decent locations in cities of course) are still very important for them. Aritzia, probably the best fashion retailer with e-commerce right now in Canada, could not stay green despite increasing their e-commerce by +150% with the latest quarter. Their approach with their physical stores are mostly to act as showcases.

there's quite a few issues that companies are starting to find out with having all your employees working from home. Not everyone is suitable for working from home so productivity issues are popping up (i expected it but the lazy coworkers really are going to ruin it for everyone else having the time of their lives working from home). IT issues are also a pain when everyone has different conditions outside of their work computer. The companies I'm hearing about are already looking for volunteers to come back to the office. No one wants to volunteer of course, no idea yet what's gonna happen next.

Considering the commute for some of my coworkers can be 30 minutes-hr and they do that twice per day, this feels like a prime thing for companies to perhaps play around with. Reward employees that are with the firm for a few years with this. Reduce overhead and operating costs of brick and mortar buildings. Something like that would also be effortless to accommodate maternity/paternity leave. Because with inflation as it is and might be its better to keep looking for new work than wait for a promotion.

im not against continuing some sort of welfare but the CERB is fucking retarded and actively discourages people from making more than $1000 a month or working at all. The eligibility requirements are way too broad and lax. People who lost a part time job working 4 hours a month due to corona are eligible for getting CERB benefit that's equivalent to working 35 hours a week at min wage. Let me repeat that there is no requirement for people on the CERB to show they are actively looking for a job. Just apply. Your application is automatically approved to expediate the process.

in fact, it is already being abused and people are getting money even if they are not eligible with the incredibly broad requirements (cheques going to inmates who cannot have possibly lost their job due to corona). Note that this is currently their method of finding the fraud

that sounds reasonable but from what I've seen so far.
One company didn't even bother with worki from home at all. All the deskjob employees continued to work on site.
One company only had a part of their workforce work from home, last I heard they are aiming to get everyone back in the office.
Then there's the company i mentioned that's asking for volunteers to come back to the office. There's already people who were always in the office during the entire pandemic too, not everyone could/had to work from home.

it seems to me that the news just overexaggerates the offices will have a "new normal" when in reality it's really limited to isolated cases like Shopify. Everyone else wants to go back to the old normal, then they can re-assess and consider letting a very small portion of people to remain/return working from home.

I don't think this is permanent and a lot will be scaled back. But I think it puts the "groundwork" down for it to re-emerge in more controlled and planned form down the line. Or at least will have people think about it. Same with UBI. Just give it to me straight /biz/, are my INTC, NVDA, and DIS Jan puts I bought a month ago ever going to print or should I exit my positions. Thanks for reading my blog.

There will be a dip until the new stimulus is passed. Then you buy, and sell when the next stimulus ends.

Then you sit out the 12 month bear market afterwards.

Just announced a new stimulus. 1200/person checks going out next week. Maybe a drop, but probably no crash.

What's the play on EA? I'm thinking puts, but in the past there hasn't really been much movement after earnings...

>Multiple outlets reported the $1,200 figure yesterday, but all relied on one source, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, making a one-line remark. Referring to a second stimulus check, Mnuchin said, “we're talking about the same provision as last time, so our proposal is the exact same proposal as last time.”

If you haven't been successful with predicting market conditions, maybe you should condition making safer, smaller plays with limited risk instead. Like rolling the wheel for small premiums instead.

I think there are going to be a lot of problems if they end relief without any continuation. Is there debate about it there like we have here?
>rent subsidies
Wait really? Not just forbearance?
>Things are looking optimistic
I strongly suspect Tueday's Consumer Confidence numbers are going to be lower than last month's, and we're going to see some significant market turbulence.
Unironically think that's much more significant than the smoothbrain "stimulus ends therefore crash" posting.

>not enjoying the TSLA top tier entertainment

Tesla is top tier buy high sell low which fits with the core /smg/ cultural beliefs though

Seriously can't think of any other company in recent years that's dipped $400/share so far to anons that went all out into a stock.

I know, I was never much of a options guy but I bought my first options in the March crash and made 300% on the small positions I took, though I made more on my DIS(when CEO quit) shorts I shorted at $125 and sold around 85. I am just not sure whether I should get out of the positions I described or if I should hold onto them. Got killed by IV crush, at least I learned something, down like 40% in total though.

So, this is what it looks like for me after a year. I have about two S&P ETFs, and a little bit of DOW. Kind of mimics the current SPY chart though. I'm not sure how to feel.

Sure, why not. I was only looking for assistance since this is an SMG. This reply isn't offering anything to me.
