What should I do with some of my unemployment benefits? I'm not a shopaholic, so haven't made any large purchases since recieving my money. I live with my mother, so I don't have serious expenses. Aside from groceries, I've been saving a modest portion most of it.

I feel kind of dumb and I'm not sure where, or how, I should invest. But I think it's necessary now.

Where would you guys suggest?

What's the minimum for gold that one should start off with? Should I do mint coins or just a bullion? There's this internal looming fear I have that we're on the brink of economic collapse. I'm dubious if precious metals will still be worth it the worst comes to light.
