So PMG, I know you can't spend Amazon cards directly on bullion purchases, but I want to creatively burn some gift cards that I got through survey spamming. I know I can just put the cards towards stuff I'd otherwise use, then spend the saved money on silver, but I wanted to be even less efficient. Would buying up manuka honey, then selling it for a dollar cheaper on Craigslist be a way to turn them into money? I live in a pretty health conscious, yuppie area, so I think I could sell it pretty quickly.

Is it fair to call anyone saying silver will ever go past $200/oz insane? If we get an ideal 20/1 silver/gold ratio, gold would have to hit $4k for $200 silver, an already incredible number. My dad unironically believes there's a good chance silver could reach $500 or $1000 an oz, which I find baffling.

When silver hit 50 per ounce in 1980 that was definitely evquivalent to 500 dollars in today's money. You know food, education, health care, housing etc are definitely 10 times more expensive now than in 1980.

1980's price was caused by a couple rich bois deciding to buy some silver with their rich boi money. Imagine if a country like Russia or China or a company like Apple or Samsung decided to buy an entire year's supply of silver. It would send the price to 1000 overnight and it would only cost 17 or 18 billion dollars, the amount of money America prints into existence every day at this stage.

If you look at a graph of USD value, it has long ago entered the asymptote. It's past the event horizon. The smallest devaluation further can destabilize the knife's edge this economy is carefully managed atop of sending everything into a hyperinflationary spiral. It's similar to how a liquid like water can be supercooled or superheated beyond the point it would normally freeze or boil but remain in it's current state. That's where we are now, in an artificially maintained stasis, waiting for a sufficient catalyst to instigate change and bring things back to a lower more stable state.

They're primarily a copper miner, but they're also 3rd largest silver producer in the world.
In 2019 when silver price was at around $16 it was 12% of their revenues. You can imagine what will happen when silver hits $30 or higher.
Their market cap is lower than Pan American Silver despite way higher revenues and earnings.

Yep, any price now simply depends on the time frame.

Look at the price of gold in Argentina, when you focus on daily or weekly price moves, it's easy to see each top as a blow-off top at the end of a bull market.

When you know your currency is in the end stage, simply buy as much as you can at whatever price it is. Do you think any Argentinian worries if they bought at each of the "tops" in the graph? Do you think they would regret selling during those "rug pull" events?

Just be disciplined and don't watch daily prices, the gold price in US dollars will always look exponential in the long term.

PMs aren't a get rich quick scheme. You're betting on the collapse of the economy that everyone taps into for wealth in varying degrees. When other people have no ability to create wealth they will be scrounging up the basic necessities not giving wealth to you in return for gold/silver, so getting wealthy through PMs 5-15 years after hyperinflation is out of the question.

It's only when a certain level of basic necessities scarcity has been removed that people will accept relatively luxurious tokens of wealth in return for their labor or possessions. This is what PMs are for, transferring wealth to the new system after the crash. This works based on the assumption that, because of scarcity and the utility and intrinsic value of gold and silver, they will be worth the same amount to any given society/economy in the present or future that they are to ours now.

So in essence, building a cache of precious metals is ideally an inter-generational effort to build wealth well beyond the lifespan of a civilization if managed carefully. Whenever a new civilization is started the gold and silver you have can be used to get a jumpstart on anybody else trying to build means of generating wealth by having the capital needed for capital investment.

Of course, they can obviously be used in times of emergency, albeit at lesser effect, but if you're already thinking this far ahead you should be thinking proportionally far ahead in terms of other areas of wealth that could be problems in the future too

Yeah it's going to happen at some point. Anybody who wants to preserve or save their wealth in real money has a chance now if he so chooses. Of course wealthy people's wealth is in the form of systems for controlling others/conspiracies with other wealthy people which is partly what i was getting at in my previous posts. true, and that's exactly why our money history is full of constant problems.

in real life people preferred gold over silver, silver over copper, and any metal over paper. So what happened from the very beginning is people hoarded coins and spent paper dollars. Meaning we didn't have enough coins to do business from the 1700's clear up to about the 1950's. We were plagued with constant coin shortages all through our history. The gold and silver standards failed mostly because people wouldn't spend them.

I've never heard of this. Didn't people have copper cents that they could spend on smaller things like candy in candy shops and the like? I'm pretty sure the mistake was making the excuse that gold is just too heavy and burdensome to transport and exchange compared to its paper receipt representation. Should've just had literally hard money from the start.

we ran out of copper coins from the 1700's to the late 1800's. It's only when brass cents were introduced by the hundreds of millions that pennies really circulated.

a lot of this isn't well known, even among coin collectors. The people that know about it are into exonumia, the tokens that businesses made because they couldn't find enough change to do business.

during much of our history businesses produced their own money because US coins didn't circulate.

It's not really important, just one of the weird things about our coin history. The dollar was never as valuable as the metal it supposedly represented, and in real life you couldn't usually trade a silver or gold note for actual coins.

about the only time the paper and the metal reached equality is in the 1890's when Colorado mined so much silver it crashed global silver markets and made the silver dollar worth LESS than the paper equivalent. Or more specifically, the silver dollar and the paper dollar were both so worthless everyone rushed to convert them to gold. But that was one of the stresses that helped end the gold standard in practice. Silver got so cheap the US couldn't afford to exchange it for gold.

She’s a goldbug and has advocated for the gold standard as a form of discipline to prevent markets from forming fed-lead bubbles. What’s interesting is that she’s hinted at crypto backed by gold to ensure transparency and wealth retention.

I think a lot of people are expecting central bank crypto’s (like China is piloting) as the next gen financial system to be backed by hard assets instead of productivity/energy....

Now couple that with the PM traders getting RICO’d, central banks and govs buying massive gold, PM correction up, banks moving to R3 ledger (XRP) and digital CBDCs in tier 2&3 countries...see the picture?

*

As stated above, the company announced a monthly account membership fee in late November. This was a move to either properly monetize the entire user base or to shed smaller, unprofitable accounts. Because of the regulatory burden associated with reporting information associated with lower value accounts, it was uneconomical for the company to keep these accounts without charging a monthly fee. As expected, it became uneconomical for smaller account holders to justify keeping their accounts, and we've seen a drastic drop in account holders since news of the fee.

Thanks to Goldmoney's real-time audit transparency, we can see just how many account closures the company has dealt with since the announcement. On November 30th, Goldmoney had 1,459,594 accounts.

...

This represents a decline of just under 75% of the company's total account holders. That is a massive shedding of clientele. Despite the dissolved client pool, this is actually bullish for two reasons.

The 75% hit to the user base of the platform has been paired with just a 3% decrease in assets under management. Accounting for change in asset valuations, the closing price of gold on November 29th was $1,947 CAD. As of writing, gold has appreciated 8.4% from that pricing.
Because of the decrease in regulatory burden expense previously associated with the smaller money accounts, Goldmoney should see a decrease in the professional fees line item going forward.

Taking these two points together, we can reasonably infer Goldmoney has retained the most valuable customers to the business. Storage (fee) revenue should continue to appreciate as long as metal rises.

The problem is we haven't even begun to face the adversity. In the US, we can expect to see a massive increase in black-on-white crime as prosecutors and judges start letting them off for targeting the new second-class citizen followed by a massive increase in whites being sent to jail for defending themselves against black savages followed by the formation of white vigilantism. When reparations and hate speech laws are codified within the next few years things will get really, really bad. If you don't think this is already happening you aren't paying attention. Whites are now being arrested and facing jail time for defending themselves. People are cheering when whites get maimed or killed for their "privilege," and the media just keeps pumping the "all whites are evil" narrative.

Enoch Powell was more right than he could have ever guessed. There won't be rivers of blood, there will be oceans.

starting to see the lie?
No banker will let us return to $1:1oz of silver.
Not even $100:1oz - no more brrrrrr machine.
Doesn't mean silver is worth $100 or $1000, just what you've always known. The dollar is devaluing and silver is a hedge for inflation.

Gold and silver are both undervalued. Gold’s true US dollar value is probably in the ballpark of $6,000. 1:20 ratio would put silver at $300. But you would only see this with a gold standard. If you trace back in history the last few thousand years and look at wages of various jobs in silver/gold, you see this is probably the case.

At a certain point it doesn't matter what they'll "allow." When the dollar hyperinflated and isn't accepted anywhere in the coming global currency collapse they will have to do something else they risk being hanged along with the politicians. When the helicopter money of millions a week per person isn't enough to buy food there will only be one or two ways out of full-blown rebellion. One is PMs, one is digital currency. I could see it going either way.

Story time for people that don't understand how metal-backed currency works!

Long ago, metal was money. There was no paper currency, only metals. Holding all your wealth in metal in one place could be dangerous, and banking was born as a business to hold and protects metal on behalf of others. You would take physical metal to a bank so it would be safe, and the bank would take a blank piece of paper and write a receipt for the metal. When you wanted the metal back to buy things, you would bring the receipt and the bank would exchange it for metal.

Over time, the receipts became trustworthy, so people began to exchange receipts between themselves as payment instead of the physical metal itself, confident that the receipts could be exchanged for the metal. This meant less metal was being actually removed from the banks on a day to day basis - it was just sitting there, backing the receipts at a 1:1 ratio, as the receipts were passed from hand to hand.

Over time, the banks realized that most of the metal that had been left with them was not being withdrawn, because people were trading only the receipts. Because of this, they learned that they could loan out metal that had been deposited for profit, with good certainty that they would still have enough metal to meet demand for withdrawls. This is when fractional reserve banking was born - when money still meant gold and silver, not imaginary paper.

As soon as fractional reserve banking began, you have an instant and immediate increase in the money supply, without increasing the amount of metal the bank actually was holding, and without changing the inherent value of the money. Banks could issue receipts and loans at a 2:1 or 5:1 ratio compared to the metal that they were actually holding. Without changing the value of the metal itself, banks magically created more money out of nothing. Sort of. What the money was actually made out of was confidence - confidence that the receipts could be exchanged if needed.

When I was telling people, in that thread, to buy gold and silver stocks, you were telling them to avoid them and buy mainstream stocks. No, I don't support David Brady. I used to bring him up sometimes to try to comfort people and stop them from panicking when gold went down, because he kept predicting that there would be one great pullback before the final soar upwards in precious metals. But he has since been proven wrong, and I have pointed that out about a dozen times.

Economic realities aren't a thing that can be voted on, you idiot. If the dollar hyperinflates or the market crashes to a depression that makes the 1930s look like a case of the Mondays (the only two possible outcomes for this everything bubble) then fiat will need to be dumped or restructured.

Maybe, but they'd handcuff themselves. They'd never get the PM for a backed currency again and they don't have the money to buy it.

But then bad things happened, and people got scared and they ran to their banks to exchange their receipts for metal. And the banks didn't have enough metal to satisfy all the receipts, because they had been only holding a fractional reserve. The banks went out of business, and the people that didn't withdraw their metal fast enough were left with nothing. People were scared of banks, and wouldn't give them any more metal because they didn't trust them. Banks couldn't create any magic money, because there was no confidence power to do so.

This was bad, because bank loans helped make many kinds of new businesses possible, so governments started to put rules on banks, to stop them from having these problems and create more confidence power. They put rules on how many loans and receipts a bank could issue - setting reserve rates at 2:1 or 3:1 which were less risky than 5:1 or 10:1. Governments made promises to citizens that the government would make banks would always have enough metal, and slowly the confidence power began to grow again, and people brought their metal back to the banks.

As confidence power grew, governments allowed banks to hold less and less metal for each loan they gave out. They lowered reserve requirements from 2:1 to 3:1 to 4:1 to 5:1 all the way to 10:1 and more. The lower the reserve requirements became, the more loans the banks could make, and business grew and grew. Confidence power grew so high that almost no one was withdrawing metal anymore. All business and trading was done with paper and receipts. The biggest problem became proving that receipts were genuine, to prevent fraud. Governments decided to make their own receipts, so that all receipts in the country would look the same and be easy to recognize. This made trading even easier and faster than ever before. The metal was all still there in the banks, but no one touched it anymore.

In this way banks have the power to favor certain business strategies/schemes and shape the development of a society. People may object "but lending allows the capable to more quickly exercise their capabilities and enrich us all! It's not a zero sum game you know." I'd say it's a small price to pay to sacrifice that little bit of extra wealth for a more gradual progression in exchange for eradication of the chance that a small group of iron-willed parasites can worm their way in over centuries, undetected, and end up holding the reigns of an entire country through the power of the god of mammon.

Let each man prove his worth by saving up the necessary capital investment for a business himself for God's sake is that too much to ask!?

In addition, we don't need constant growth. Why don't we just try homeostasis for once instead of constantly stretching ourselves thin? "We did it not because it was easy, but because it was hard" is admirable in spirit, but in disharmony with the nature of things in reality.

Eventually governments became worried. They knew it was dangerous to have banks that didn't have enough metal for everyone like they had promised, and that magic bank money would only work as long as there was enough confidence power. So, at a time when the governments had lots of confidence power, the governments took all of the metal from the banks. The governments promised the citizens to keep the metal safe for them, as long as the citizens would keep trading the receipts that the governments had made. The metal was all still there in the government vaults, but no one COULD touch it anymore.

The governments continued to set the rules about how much loans banks could make, and governments continued to print receipts for everyone to use. At first the governments promised that receipts were good for as much metal as they showed (1:1). As years and decades went on, confidence power in the paper continued to grow, and people began to forget that money was metal, and paper was only a receipt for metal. Governments began to get greedy, and started telling people that receipts were only good for part of the metal they showed (1/2, then 1/3, then 1/4 and on and on). By this time, many people had never even seen the metal that their paper represented, so they were not troubled by this. They continued to trade paper as if it was money. Slowly, slowly, governments then began to announce that the paper itself was money. The governments said that paper was money so many times and for so long that people began to believe it, and it became true.

The paper no longer represented metal. Governments were very happy because they could make as much paper money as they wanted very easily, and could keep all the metal for themselves.
