You guys underestimate the power of Chinese slave labor. Think 6 rotating 4-hour shifts. Cramming as many humans as physically possible into as little space as possible. Obedient bugment don't slack off when nobody is looking. Quality control inspectors don't care about anything they don't see. As long as it's covered up it's "good enough". End result is a workforce with 3 times the productivity and 1/2 the cost. With the world renowned Chinese quality of course. That's the power of TSLA right now.

Tesla's factories are highly automated and they don't need slave labor. Tesla hasn't relocated all their production to China because of this, they can actually produce cars in high cost countries like the US and Germany and come out ahead compared to shipping cars directly from China.
>Quality control inspectors don't care about anything they don't see
All the quality control issues came out of the Fremont factory because California labor is trash. Bugmen probably produce better cars compared to them.

That's still par for the course with almost any factory, for example there are a lot of people who work in factories that produce food who refuse to buy any product that their company makes. Once you break the illusion of quality, it's hard to get it back. Our stomachs would churn if we saw what things are like behind closed doors.

As much as California sucks, Teslas from Fremont don't really have that big of a QC problem compared to other vehicles. TSLAQ short sellers drummed this up and now people notice problems more often because they go over their car with a fine tooth comb. You'll see the same panel gaps and other bullshit with any car brand if you look for it.

Good joke. Their automation and AI tech isn't good enough to dog food. At this point they're not any more automated than Honda or Toyota, which is impressive for a US company but not the holy grail of fully automatic assault gigafactories with high capacity earnings reports and the equity thing that goes up.

Most modern car factories are highly automated. Labor costs matter less and less in most of the manufacturing industry which is why we're seeing a shift to localized production. China realizes this so they're trying to transition to a service economy before their manufacturing industry starts rapidly declining. Regardless, it's only a matter of time until Tesla factories become almost completely automated, the whole industry is headed this way with Tesla leading the pack.
>high capacity earnings reports and the equity thing that goes up.
Their costs saving don't come from automation, unironically their automation push probably cost them money. Instead it's vertical integration and cheaper manufacturing techniques that is driving their very high gross margin.
>>20606990
Factories during that time period must have been hell on earth, I'm sickened by the things people have to do for money.
>>20606998
>A 36k+ base car, I expect better, no matter who makes it.
I completely agree, it's unacceptable but by no means surprising. Tesla needs better customer service and more respect for their customers in general, it's terrible for them to develop a reputation of screwing their customers when it's everything they should be trying leave with the dying auto industry.

What's interesting is that we're going to see it swing the other way soon as people realize electric cars inherently have fewer problems due to their simplicity and fewer moving parts. It will be ICE cars that will be considered unreliable.

>Tesla needs better customer service and more respect for their customers in general, it's terrible for them to develop a reputation of screwing their customers when it's everything they should be trying leave with the dying auto industry.
I don't think Tesla cares at this point. Elon used it to build a persona and mystique so he could use that capital for SpaceX. He is never, EVER letting shareholders touch that favored child of his. Doesn't matter how much of a piece of shit he is if he gets us to Mars as far as history books go.

They should use AI and get rid of all the retarded boomer comments. I still don't know how they're retarded enough to answer a question they don't have an answer for. Yahoo Answers had an equally retarded base yet it didn't have as big as a problem as Amazon has.
>>20607250
I think Elon himself cares but what he wants gets lost to the greater corporate culture of tens of thousands of employees who just want to get paid and go home. It doesn't need to come from a good place, he obviously must understand that customer service increases his chance of Tesla becoming a bigger success and giving him the money needed to colonize Mars. There's a case for SpaceX becoming public because it opens the gate for easy funding through dilution and their shareholders will be free marketing pushing mass adoption of their products, similar to Tesla. I think at least one part of SpaceX will be spun off eventually, maybe it's going to be Starlink but they could spin off rocket production or launch services. All three should be fairly stable unlike the beginning of Tesla.
>>20607267
By weight most of the parts for a Tesla are produced in house, that should count for something even if a lot of parts are brought in. They're still transitioning to making all their own parts, providing they can do it cheaper. This is part of the reason why they're so successful, you can't price gouge them because they'll just make the part they were looking to buy from you. SpaceX does the same thing.

I think it's very important for people to look into the future with Tesla instead of getting caught up with what they're currently doing. This has been the folly of short sellers who constantly have been getting fucked because they're incapable of realizing the pace of innovation quickly makes their claims obsolete.
