I'm starting to get the idea that /pmg/ is split between those who believe a currency crisis and the collapse of the USD is imminent, and those who believe it's all business-as-usual with another cycle lazily rolling along.

Can those in the latter camp make it known how long they think the everything bubble can grown before popping/how long the fiat scam can continue? Do you think it will go on forever? I am genuinely curious.

Was hoping to cash out my pension earlier, but "due to corona" we cant do that for an undetermined period of time ... I tried to grab a few hundred oz couple weeks ago, but everything was sold out... then I found 100oz and went "you know what, lets sleep on it" and the price jumped the fuck up.

Now all the gets are calling for a moon and I still feel like a stacklet... I think thats the curse of PM's is that every stack is gonna feel like a suicide stack soon.

2011 was the last time this sort of thing happened, there was an economic crisis, people were scared a bit because 2008 was not that far away in their minds.

2020, we have an even worse economic crisis by many orders of magnitude, and less tools to alleviate said crisis. On top of this:
RONA and everything that comes with it,
BLM burning cities and creating insurgencies world fucking wide with the precision and planning to the degree that one has to at least be amazed by it
US election crazy times
Chinese bank runs and massive fraud in key banks/PM allocations
Regular people becoming "preppers" not just fringe people

I would say its going to be a wild ride.

the only reason 2011 became the peak is because the fed said they could and would begin tightening, which the market believed. they didn't start tightening until 2015, and even then, only in the most feeble way imaginable. by 2018, with rates still extremely low, they had to abandon hikes, and started aggressively cutting, long before covid.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Federal_Open_Market_Committee_actions#Operation_Twist_(2011)

the question metal inventors need to ask themselves is, does the fed still have credibility? if yes, then we see a strong reversion, but if not, this is going to be a huge secular bull market for the metals, probably dwarfing what we saw in the 70's.

Agree with this. The bottom the market needs to hit to repeat prior market bottoms is ~1 oz of gold per share of the Dow, which could be either the Dow crashing or gold rising and normally would be a little of both.

The Fed ever allowing the Dow to drop much more than 5-10% seems impossible, but so does the Fed allowing Gold to rise so high without trying to push it down. Unstoppable force, immovable object, yet I think we will hit that ratio regardless and nothing can stop it.

What is this retarded argument? You're not printing anything, it's being printed by the higher power and redistributed as a "reward" for your "input" that benefits society. It's effortless to print money, but to receive it takes time and some kind of action that is considered worthy enough to be rewarded with a paper that has a value we've all agreed on.

There are 10 million ounces of gold in the ground, and that is that. "The NAV at $1840 Gold is over $1 BILLION DOLLARS. With a present M/C of $106 Million Dollars, and with Eric Sprott in heavy, SPA is a no brainer. Huge upside."

Viszla also very overbought. Is still a good stock; in fact, I recommended it to /pmg/ just one or two days before it went up sixfold; but would not purchase it now. Not surprising to see people go into the silver small-caps which are still undervalued like Discovery, Callinex, Dolly Varden, Silver One, etc.

Karora is going much higher. I will probably add to my position if people are stupid enough to be giving it away today.

"Greg Crowe, President and CEO, commented: "This is the third time Eric Sprott has taken a position in the company. We are very appreciative of his ongoing support. With a treasury of over C$ 14 million, Silver One is very well positioned to advance its 3 high-priority silver projects in Nevada and Arizona. 1) Do not even think of waiting for a drop if you don't already have a core position. There are delusional people who have been saying that PMs would drop since the March lows. Look at this person who tossed away his mining shares in April for a 100% gain--could have made 400%. David Brady has led his followers off a cliff in the same way, telling them that there was going to be a massive pullback since May, or two months now; still continuing to mislead them even now. You need to get in as quickly as possible, because this bull is charging ferociously and may not stop for a long time, if ever. The most manipulated market in history (silver) is now setting itself free.

2) Consider buying the miners. They go up 2.5-3x faster than silver. SILJ is the standard ETF. See my posts here: >>20585960

And for anyone ITT thinking about buying for the first time who’s a real poorfag, keep in mind the bar for entry into precious metals is very low for now at least.

In the unfortunate event that a kilo silver or 10g gold bar is beyond your reach, almost anyone can afford single ounce silver coins or rounds that go for $20-$25.

If even that's a struggle, you can buy junk silver half-dollars and shillings for $7-$12 and silver dimes and sixpences for just $1-$3.

I don't think it's a coincidence that silver breaks out and soars from $19 to $23 within a day or two, directly after Eric Sprott takes delivery of 8.8% of the world's annual silver supply. Chris Marcus (Youtube: Arcadia Economics) has proven that silver is manipulated in his book The Big Silver Short. Everybody in the PM community knows it. Now the manipulation is ending, after nine long years.

But all the same, I don't think that Sprott's order for physical silver, and the breakout which we have seen, can possibly be a coincidence. COVID is not a "hoax". A thing can be more than one thing and we don't have to think in binary. COVID is real and the lab in Wuhan was absolutely doing Gain of Function research and made this virus. It can ALSO be true that certain bad actors are taking advantage of the pandemic to further their agenda. People more often than not can only think along a single axis...if this, then not that. If bad actors are using COVID and maybe embellishing it, then they have to think it must all be a complete hoax. I'm saddened that people don't have room for nuance. If you can't think with nuance, then it means you can never get to the truth. The truth is nuanced.

I made about a hundred posts on this subject on /pol/ from Feb-April, before I started talking about precious metals here from May-July. The information has mostly slipped away from me by now, because I haven't given any thought to the subject in a long while. But start with these articles. They are from March/April; but I am sure that others can give you more up-to-date information. Consider that the "expert" on the other side, Neil Ferguson, sometimes called "Professor Lockdown," who started this panic to begin with in his ICL "study," is an utter disgraced fraud.

For proof that the stock market would have crashed _without_ the lockdowns, see what Ron Paul, David Brady, Peter Schiff, Ray Dalio & Bridgewater, and many others, were saying in 2019 and early 2020. It was widely predicted.

Keep in mind this is the same virology lab in Wuhan that has on THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS accidentally released a SARS variant. This would just be number 4.

What do I care what hand-picked doubting-thomas nobodies think about a disease their relatives haven't died from yet? You can find 'experts' who doubt the majoritarian narrative for any subject imaginable.

Again, Corona has absolutely been used by every power broker alive to advance their interests. Not in dispute. That is the nature of crises. I'm sure there are many false positives, misattributed deaths, and distorted narratives about it. That does not make it a hoax, nor are the people actually suffocating to death from it imagining things.

>hand-picked doubting-thomas nobodies

Let me pluck one name at random from the list. "Dr John Ioannidis Professor of Medicine, of Health Research and Policy and of Biomedical Data Science, at Stanford University School of Medicine and a Professor of Statistics at Stanford University School of Humanities and Sciences." Hardly a "nobody." Here is what he has to say about the coronavirus:

"Patients who have been tested for SARS-CoV-2 are disproportionately those with severe symptoms and bad outcomes. As most health systems have limited testing capacity, selection bias may even worsen in the near future.

The one situation where an entire, closed population was tested was the Diamond Princess cruise ship and its quarantine passengers. The case fatality rate there was 1.0%, but this was a largely elderly population, in which the death rate from Covid-19 is much higher.

[…]

Could the Covid-19 case fatality rate be that low? No, some say, pointing to the high rate in elderly people. However, even some so-called mild or common-cold-type coronaviruses that have been known for decades can have case fatality rates as high as 8% when they infect elderly people in nursing homes.

[…]

If we had not known about a new virus out there, and had not checked individuals with PCR tests, the number of total deaths due to “influenza-like illness” would not seem unusual this year. At most, we might have casually noted that flu this season seems to be a bit worse than average."

(From “A fiasco in the making? As the coronavirus pandemic takes hold, we are making decisions without reliable data”, Stat News, 17th March 2020.)

On the other side we have Neil Ferguson, whose ICL study was the chief source for the panic and the lockdowns. Here is his record:

"Ferguson was behind the disputed research that sparked the mass culling of eleven million sheep and cattle during the 2001 outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease. He also predicted that up to 150,000 people could die. There were fewer than 200 deaths. . . .

In 2002, Ferguson predicted that up to 50,000 people would likely die from exposure to BSE (mad cow disease) in beef. In the U.K., there were only 177 deaths from BSE.

In 2005, Ferguson predicted that up to 150 million people could be killed from bird flu. In the end, only 282 people died worldwide from the disease between 2003 and 2009.

In 2009, a government estimate, based on Ferguson’s advice, said a “reasonable worst-case scenario” was that the swine flu would lead to 65,000 British deaths. In the end, swine flu killed 457 people in the U.K.

Last March, Ferguson admitted that his Imperial College model of the COVID-19 disease was based on undocumented, 13-year-old computer code that was intended to be used for a feared influenza pandemic, rather than a coronavirus. Ferguson declined to release his original code so other scientists could check his results. He only released a heavily revised set of code last week, after a six-week delay."

https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/professor-lockdown-modeler-resigns-in-disgrace/

What is it, then, that, in your eyes, makes people like John Ioannidis "nobodies," and people like Neil Ferguson "somebodies"?

Chris Martensen of Peak Prosperity has a PhD from Duke in Pathology. He did a few videos a month or 2 on YouTube where he looked at the information available and makes a convincing case that this was the product of gain of function research and also shows how small, insular, and incestuous the virology community is. I was skeptical at first, but there is just way too much smoke for there to be no fire. What’s even juicier is that it was Fauci’s NIAID that had been contracting with the Wuhan lab. The first 5 year contract ran from 2014-2019 where they were just collecting and cataloguing bat coronaviruses viruses. They began a second 5 year contract in 2019 that increased the scope to study bat to human transmission and also included gain of function research. If you are unaware of “gain of function” research, this is where they take existing viruses, and through various methods including gene editing, they try to make the virus more transmissible or more pathogenic in order to study it. So the US NIAID was paying the Wuhan lab to make bat coronaviruses viruses more dangerous and they began this phase of research in 2019...the same year that this outbreak occurred of a more dangerous bat coronaviruses virus in Wuhan. Too many coincidences.

Fearmonger saying that the virus would cause enormous number of deaths--repeating all the propaganda that it might reinfect you even if you recover, scar your lungs for life, etc., etc. I used to listen to his videos in Jan. or Feb. before Wolfgang Wodarg and others enlightened me in March. Whenever I looked back at Martensen's videos from March onward, he was continuing to fearmonger just as intensely, despite increasing evidence that the virus was not as dangerous as was claimed. Caused me even to lose respect for Mike Maloney, because he went along with Martenson the whole way on this matter. I seem to recall Maloney being on a podcast with him and predicting "millions of deaths," although it is so long ago now that I don't want to state this with certainty, because my memory is weak.

I got sick in february before any of my peers did and before anyone was acknowledging it was spreading in america (I live in seattle metro area). Even then I was like, 'this is bizarre disease the likes of which I've never had before', and corona was not even on my radar yet except as something that was fucking up china.

There seem as well to be a superabundance of people retaining symptoms and signs of organ damage months after clearing the disease. poo-pooing mitigative efforts because the death rate is sub-1% seems not to capture the entirety of the lasting damage this disease is causing to people.

Ron Paul wasn't saying that the present crash would keep crashing. Observe that he says "within the next _twelve months." Austrians knew, in 2018, that the bankers would reinflate the Everything Bubble for a time by doing some form of Q. E. again, which they did, simply terming it "not Q. E." But Austrians also knew that the liquidity injected was extremely small when compared with the magnitude of the problem, and that literally tens of trillions of dollars would be needed to suppress yields and prevent the market from crashing again. Listen to what David Brady was saying in March 2019 and Oct. 2019.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsbPDtSv8mw

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1--ZbGCNCgU

Coronavirus was the perfect excuse to inject the requisite tens of trillions of dollars into the system. Recall how angry people were after the bank bailouts after the 2008 financial crisis. There would have been riots without the coronavirus pretext; but now Powell can go on television and lie and say "The economy was excellent before; the only thing that brought us down is the virus; nothing more, nothing less; so now we need to take unprecedented measures to combat it."

There are new coronaviruses which infect people every year. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_AyuhbnPOI)) Coronaviruses are nasty stuff. But the statistics would seem to suggest that this particular coronavirus is nasty stuff only in the same way as a common cold is nasty stuff; namely an illness which severely affects elderly people, and causes tens of thousands of deaths per annum. I believe that was also largely what Wilson talked about during the selloff.
His theory was that shadowbanking and hedge funds were highly levered on bull bets, and had to sell everything they could to free up dollars. It’s why they sold off blue chips and gold at the same time as low quality assets.

I need to look at how long it took to recover. I assume it was much quicker than stocks, much slower than gold?

Thank you for the interesting information. I didn't know about this.

The theory of Austrians is simply that, owing to low interest-rates, all assets but commodities are in such an enormous bubble that, without the suppression of yields, everything would come crashing down by about 90%, just as it did during the Great Depression. We can see this from looking at the P. E. ratios in stocks, and from the house price to earnings ratios in the housing market. Everything is abnormally distorted by central bank policies; but those same policies have got the bankers into a debt-trap from which there is no escape. The dichotomy now is either a collapse, or hyperinflation and then a worse collapse.

>But the statistics would seem to suggest
I mean that's nice, but then you get it or someone you knows gets it and you realize it's a homewrecker. Stats aren't representative when people are staying home because they know ICUs are packed (or 'packed' if you think those numbers are false too, but all that matters in this case is public perception) and they know there's little ICUs can do anyways, and they know (until recently) they can't even get tested one way or the other anyhow. Between false positives and misattributed deaths (on one side) and untold multitudes of humans too afraid or cynical to get treatment or testing (on the other side), stats have limited ability to tell the whole story. And you can't say that someone who never got tested and never got treatment was necessarily a mild or marginally symptomatic case. That's why in this case I am really putting a minimum on the extent to which I pay attention to experts talking about stats and caring much more about observations from the trenches. A lot of it could be confirmation bias (they thought they had corona so they overstated how awful the experience was) but I can't see how all of it could be, especially people who contracted it before the narrative of it spreading in america was even a thing.

Low to zero. Impending war is presaged by rising crude oil prices. You might also see a spike in copper prices (ammunition shells) and other commodities used in war.

Hey, do you think it's a good idea to buy 0.5 kg of random silver jewelry for spot or under spot? I mean 0.5 kg is the pure silver content and for under spot I get 800-835 purity, for spot it's sterling silver. I'm worried about liquidity and how hard am I gonna get scammed when I'm selling. But the price is too good.

>doubt
I don't tell lies on the internet.
The two biggest dealers in my country (Norway) have sent emails asking me (and other customers) to sell for above spot. The market is nuts right now.
The dealers know they can instasell for spot+8 dollars, so why wouldn't they offer me spot+1 and keep a healthy +7 margin?
Seriously, ask around. The market has changed big time. It's basically impossible for the dealers to get their hands on silver right now, so the only way to get it is to buy it back from their clients at a premium. Not joking here.

I have a small position i've entered over the last 2 weeks slowly. im a stocks brainlet desu and have been assblasted by crypto every time i tried. I'm tired of it and want out of this clown market and clown system. One does not become a stacker in search of a paper upside. I'm hoarding precious commodities at historically low prices to get a piece of the crash to end all crashes.

1920 and earlier is 92%, majority of the rest is 80%.

I kept the sterling, and some choice older/more valued coins, then sold the rest to someone.

I promptly used the proceeds to buy more silver. Feel... decent about it I guess, basically traded 28oz of 80% silver for 25.5 oz of silver, with 5.5 oz of the silver I kept being rare with numismatic value, and the other 20oz being 999 fine, lovely poured bars as opposed to .80% which can be sold privately for spot, but dealers dont pay much for it. where as 999 i can get spot no problem.

That I made fiat bucks too is ok i guess, since it allowed me to pad the buyout of the guy i just mentioned.

Sorry I cant give away sources, but I will say make sure you shop around, try to sell silver (even if you dont sell it, inquire and TRY to see how much you get for it) as you will make connections to both buy and sell later.

Here's a little question I've always had: why do people dislike sterling silver, which is 92.5%, but at the same time like junk silver, which is 90%?

Personally, I love having sterling silver in my stack, as my goal for stacking in the first place was to have my own "treasure", and the sterling silver goblets, gravy bowls, etc. look beautiful among the rest.
