In terms of total value, insiders sold $52.6 million of shares last week while their purchases reached $3.4 million, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Corporate insiders has shown a mixed track record in timing their stock disposals. Their rush to sell at the start of this year proved prescient as the S&P 500 rose to an all-time high in February before crashing. So did the selling spree in January 2018, when the benchmark index’s advance to what was then a record preceded a correction. The dash to bail in 2017 and 2019, however, was met by continued equity gains.

Sit down and do the actual math on how long it would actually take to reach back to $8 given their actual fundamentals.
Average down just ties up eve more capital in a loser. If your entire position was entered in at 8 then you either do covered calls or sell some of that position now (not all of it) to do other things with.
You could use that same capital to then rebuy more shares. That almost does the same thing as averaging down but caps the capital you might lose to initial investment. But that strategy is also usually bad if you keep doing it.
It is pure emotion to average down and pure emotion is how people lose.

This is the standard PND chart - they run it up on hype with a tiny float while most of the supply is locked up, and then steadily unload on the way down as the insiders likely have a stupid low cost basis and don't give a shit about selling at 3, 2, 1, 0.5, etc. Cutting your losses now is probably the smartest thing to do. If you want to ride the thing out until the end just to see it for yourself, then just hold on but don't throw any more money at it.

I do want to know if this is a good idea. I have played this about as bad as i could have so far. I think this is the only good idea i have had the whole time. Ive been holding with the “never sell” mindset since i hit -50%. At this point there is no way i will just sell and lose 10000 dollars. Im not good enough to take the remaining $3000 and recoup my losses, and i have other money that im trying to do that with anyways. I do have some confidence in this companys growth even if you all laugh at me for that, but i dont expect it to hit $8 and i dont expect it until next year. Writing and selling puts seems like the only other decent advice ive gotten here, but id need to learn how to do that. Selling now at a 75% loss for no reason after ive held this long seems so dumb. Here's an example - I have a single share of BUD that I bought because I had dividend money. It's down like.. 8% or something. BUD is a perfectly viable company that'll continue to exist long after COVID is gone, but for now they're experiencing trouble.

If you're going to put more money in, put it somewhere stable. SPY, XOUT, RSP, pick a nice stable S&P fund and put your money there first. Sure you won't get astronomical gains but I put $10k in SPY a few months ago and now I'm up over $500. It's not all that much, but at least I'm not losing anything.

I'll be blunt, the most I'll tolerate on something based on fundamentals and projected growth is -30% and even then I would be hard pressed to put more in.
You have two options: Sell some of your shares and use that money to rebuy new shares. That prevents you from dumping more networth in a sunk cost sinkhole.
Wait for spikes on news catalysts or random short squeezes (volatility spikes) to sell calls on some of the shares at 7 or 8. That will lower your cost basis as if you HAD averaged down.
