Gold and silver are preservers of wealth yes, but silver is very undervalued atm relative to gold, so its bound to stabilize which will make it worth 3 times more (more or less). However, everything else is way overvalued at the moment, at least in the developed world, so when hyperinflation hits you will see everything become cheaper relative to gold and silver. Gold will no doubt preserve your wealth and in fact, in this case, appear to increase it quite a bit.

I got a bunch of sovereign mint 1-ofs in my last order, including a 2020 Kook. Probably my favorite 1oz now. The polish is on par with Brittanias, and the bird is just cheeky as fuck. Great use of contrast between shiny and frosty bits. Bonus points for the queen being reduced to the size of a tic-tac on the obverse, to make room for more cheeky bird. Just a very aesthetic coin overall. In comparison, the 2020 roo I got was sort of crusty and shit looking even though it was supposedly new.

Too bad they're $2 over most other currency coins, still, definitely going to start collecting one of these on an annual basis.

Some people buy physical metal with the best trading certainty/liquidity (standard minted coins, or certified products).

What you should buy depends on why you are buying it.

Personally I like standard mint coins for my on-hand + paper in my retirement account (that is locked behind government hands for another 30 years anyway, so physical isn't even an option), but there's plenty of people here that will argue for getting anything with the lowest premium. I think if it gets to the stage where I am needing to barter/trade with my physical metals, making sure they are easy to recognize/certify is going to be important. I don't expect to be bartering for a house or other large property, meaning small easily traded coins take priority over larger bars.
