Among the multiple classes of information provided by the CDM of this swap contract, there are the following four items:

The identifiers of the two parties, which can be linked to two Algorand wallet ids.
The underlying notional and its denomination (Euro in this example).
The fixed and the reference floating (EURIBOR in the example) rates for the swap.
The dates at which the swap is settled (six months in the example).

This information is sufficient to create an ASA representation of the Euro to be used for the periodical settlement of the swaps. The ASC1s are used to automatically retrieve information about the EURIBOR quote every six months from an external oracle chosen by the two parties, and to compute the difference between the two interest payments. The ASA then executes a net transfer between the wallets of the two parties to settle the swap.

Algorand was selected as one of the three platforms that participants could build their solutions on for Barclays’ DerivHack 2019 hackathon. A group of us travelled to New York last week to support the teams building on Algorand. One of those teams, “Digital Bull,” built their blockchain application using the Algorand platform. They successfully edged out many other teams to win the top prize of “Best Overall Solution” at DerivHack New York.
