Big, gigantic oil with huge cash and asset reserves. Oil industry is one of the most boom and bust sectors in the world and big oil picks up first. Then after a while smaller oil. Then after THAT is exploratory oil companies and shale. These cycles are years long. And dumb amateur money always gets burned because they think like this boomer that "everyone going to need that oil and this company will be right back where it was". There are bigger supercycles that ride on top of it which can make the "pre-crash price" slide to a new normal up or down. Zoom out on HAL for example.
Really, its just dumb to play oil companies when you could just play the futures contracts directly. Those have to move first before any oil companies can expect their stock prices to move months from now.

I think there is some merit to the thesis that oil will have a flash run and crash because of the supply AND demand shock. Fewer producers will survive and it won't take much demand to cause the price to spike. The price spike might make all oil companies overeager to commit resources and run into yet another oil glut.
That would be the time to offload oil company shares if you are bagholding from the crash or play the really dangerous game of oil futures.

People don’t want electric cars for $45,000. Yes the low end Tesla models might go that low. But the demand isn’t there. Toyota Honda and Ford are basically giving their cars away right now.

Also, the Tesla only really has a range of about 160 miles driven at highway speeds. You need to charge it for 10 hours at home.

Electric cars are toys for the rich. One day the average customer might all buy hybrids or something. We are not even close anon.

And certainly no significant amount of people will sell their gas powered cars in the middle of a recession to buy an electric.
