Not really. Chainlink just has unique real world applications. That doesn't mean some other innovative crypto won't appear to serve other functions.

They could, but then they'd be going against Chainlink (an established name) in a market which already has competiton (from Chainlink)
Oh, and they'd also have to make the thing itself (a new protocol) without infringing on what Chainlink already does; in effect find a more efficient way which doesn't tread on Chainlink's toes - otherwise Chainlink will remain the best on the market.
