But more what is happening is that the seller has to cover. These buyers probably were accumulating Tesla shares for months at less than 500 dollars. These are huge batches of tens of millions of shares. That overwhelms the ask book and causes the price to ride. The premium increases and you sell that and, if you time it right at the beginning of the day, you sell your previously accumulated shares to the seller trying to get shares to cover the call.
You take some of the profits and buy more short dated OTM calls and keep going. The seller is getting bled DRY of billions of dollars. Because for some stupid reason they made the spread go up to 2.1k. This is that horror story you hear about fucking up options writing.

Yes. If you use tos for level 2 you can easily place limit orders on the active trader where you can see other limit orders. Best way to accurately trade imo. You can't do what is going on with TSLA without billions of dollars because you need the greeks to be in your favor (which means the price needs to be several hundred to start with) and to be fluid. I am seriously suspecting some kind of government backed bank like in China. This was only possible because presumably the options underwriter was a TSLA bull underwriter that wrote a call spread that went up to 7-8x what the stock price was back in March for Q2 Earnings.
