im new to crypto but ive been trading stocks for a while. been lurking biz for a while now
i just dont understand what makes certain crypto bullish. this board needs a sticky for this shit

>> No.20112926

by not listening to the dozens of pajeets about to tell you to buy their obvious scams

you have to do a lot of research and understand what has value and what doesnt.

the majority of anons here have decided that smart contracts have value. this is because of the value they can bring to traditional enterprises. see: baseline protocol. which is lead by Microsoft and EY.

Smart Contracts require Oracles in order to feed them data. ChainLink is an Oracle network that has partnered with just about every project that exists in crypto, including Baseline Protocol.
Which is why most anons are bullish on chainlink

i see.
what makes people choose to invest in crypto over stocks? i know that might be a retarded question but im genuinely curious

that's just the start too, If link didnt have connections with the largest corporations on the planet or if the supply wasnt fixed it wouldn't be close to as valuable as it is or could be. just the fact that only 1 billion can exist gives it significant value alone. of course that just covers supply not demand which is where things like staking, the actual network use, etc etc comes in

Mostly the % gain difference. For example, ChainLink, the most owned crypto on /biz/ by miles, was 15 cents in 2017
It is currently $4.84 which translates to a 3226% increase, or a 32x of your money.

It is difficult to find stocks that will go up 32x in 3 years in traditional finance (stocks)
It is generally agreed upon that this exponential growth (for chainlink specifically) will continue, as it acquires more and more traction and its services begin to be used more widely.

is it wise to compare crypto to pennystocks in that case? reminds me of the outrageous % gain that i used to see from pennystocks.

Yeah what this anon said too. I'm just giving you the absolute bare bones responses here.
Many other things to consider like a fixed supply, staking tokens (which locks up further supply) and of course countless important partnerships I haven't even mentioned
A big two are Oracle (the #2 software company on earth) and BSN, which is a blockchain initiative led by the Chinese government. Both of which have pledged to use ChainLink.

why invest in stocks that have already existed price discovery of being unknown and a higher quantity of items splitting the market cap? The only stocks worth investing into are also relatively unknown and require more research combined with the fact that everyone is already in stocks. were also placing our bets that crypto is going to become bigger as a whole so the tokens themselves arent the only point of speculation.

Only in nature of possible % gains, but yes that would be a fair comparison.
Of course, penny stocks and cryptocurrencies do entirely different things and serve completely different functions.

Though yes, in terms of volatility and possible growth, you could compare crypto to pennystocks.
That being said, it's a difficult comparison for me to actively make, because cryptocurrency is a fledgling technology that has yet to see significant global adoption, and pennystocks are just traditional companies that can do anything from selling soap to manufacturing electronics etc

>>20113079
it would be wiser imo to consider coins below the top 30 or so to be more like penny stocks where (most) the top coins could be compared to blue chip stocks.

though I just look at crypto as its own thing and take it at face value, best to see it for what it is

It is, retard. People choose to invest in crupto because bigger ROI. Also because stock market = clown market

that makes sense. so most crypto is a HODL? as in, most people invest in crypto rather than trade it?

It’s a great question anon
You’re smart for asking it
And the answer is you have to know what you’re investing in, and thereby you have an eye for “specialness”

For example, I have a buddy who is in to cameras
And so when cannon or Sony comes out with some type of new camera thing, he can tell whether it’s important, or going to be a hit
He’s smart at cameras, and can kind of see the future of the space

I don’t know shit about photography, but I do know computers in a more general sense. So in order to have an eye for crypto you really have to understand some basics about blockchain, the problems that exist without it, and what it can solve. It’s a lot. But just keep researching learning.
I would have never learned anything without this place. This has been a form of school for me.

Every investor is different, my friend.
Some people actively trade it to try and make gains. Some would even argue (and they would be right) that day trading crypto could be infinitely more profitable than day trading stocks due to the volatility

Others just buy and hold long term if they believe in the future success of a project. I personally am a long term crypto investor and have never bought anything that I then sold in under a year.

I like the volatility and the potential growth of a relatively new market. Also I don't have to pay taxes on crypto trades in my country, so that makes it infinitely more appealing than traditional stocks.

You can easily get rekt by investing in projects where the team controls the supply and dumps on the market. I like POW projects with no pre-mine like 0xMonero.
