Me and a few other people lost our full time jobs because the company was cutting down. Both me and one of the others applied for the same job at another company. I got it and he didn't. I haven't begun working there yet. Would it be ok for me to send an email to the boss at the new job and say the following?

Well actually I applied for two jobs and was offered one of them. Not sure but I think he wanted either, just like myself. I looked at his letter and maybe it was the letter. Anyway they weren't just hiring one person. I could ask him if they've still got vacancies and if so I recommend my coworker because he has the same experience. We weren't really friends but I didn't really have much problems with him and I wanted to do a favor.

As I said they were hiring several people. One of those two jobs I applied for I saw the ad was taken down so maybe they already found all the candidates for that job. The other job which still has the ad up is the job I got. They're hiring 11 people for that job. Not sure but I think maybe he preferred the job I didn't get. I think maybe I could have gotten either, because they asked me which I preferred. I think maybe it was the letter. I mentioned my company was cutting down. His letter didn't say anything about that.

If they ask for more details, just laugh and say awe no it was just a weird random rumor I remembered hearing about that guy hehe
