PE ratio by itself is uncorrelated with long-term returns, and there's a huge body of research showing this. You need to also look at all those other numbers in the ER which are not GAAP earnings if you want to do well (debt to equity and return on capital). Ideally you want a company that would have decent growth prospects and low chance of bankruptcy even if the equity and debt markets suddenly became completely unavailable for the next decade.

I'm mostly unsure about it's performance if we get a big swing down again. Just like utilities and defensive shit, it might dip like a bitch into that 40 - 45 range again. I'd be much bigger on utilities if i had a better feeling for what's on the horizon because they seem to get a big dip with everything else. If i was in your position and really wanted to get more exposure, i would be tempted to buy with a trailing stop limit (maybe on tuesday or wednesday). I do think there's a good amount of upside, but the whole market freaks me out a bit.
