>payout ratio is % of earnings used to pay divs, >100% means they're supporting the divs with more than they earn
>dividend aristocrats have grown their dividend every year for 25 years; kings have done it for 50 years
>stable div aristocrats/kings are going to have low yields but it's better than a savings account
>MLPs and REITs can't qualify for long-term capital gains rates, but they usually have a higher yield
>if you're lazy, you can buy into ETFs instead, which have a lower yield but a pro manages it for a piece of the yield

Also I have like 20% of my net worth in dividend stocks, would recommend. Though considering we're about to enter the crypto bull market of 2020-2021, I'm leaning more towards crypto right now more than anything, although I will not be selling off my dividend stocks.

Been buying O Realty Income for a bit now. Monthly dividends, about 4.7% per year.

Company been going supposedly 51 years years now, dont really see it going anywhere
