Ampleforth General /afg/ - Bruce REEEEEE Edition

Average 24hr Oracle price: $1.73
Previous Rebase Yield: 6.49%
https://www.ampleforth.org/dashboard/

What is Ampleforth?
Ampleforth is an elastic supply currency whose supply scales with market cap.

What makes Ampleforth different than other coins and tokens?
If you own 1% of the supply, you will always own 1%.

How does the AMPL supply change?
AMPL supply changes nightly at 10pm EST, called a rebase. If AMPL price is outside the threshold (currently $0.95-1.05), AMPL supply is changed to bring the average price per AMPL closer to $1.

Are there extra incentives for early adopters?
Yes, AMPLs can be staked in the 90 day geyser to help provide liquidity to Uniswap. Stakers will receive rebase reward plus 2x-3x AMPLs locked in the geyser.
https://www.ampltalk.org/app/forum/ampl-geyser-19/topic/about-the-geyser-21/

What are the goals of the project?
In the short term, to be a speculative currency, and in the long term a stable reserve of value that can be adopted by institutions but still have liquidity for everyday transactions.

What developers and private capital backers are with the project?
An impressive list of American developers and engineers, along with Brian Armstrong of Coinbase.
https://www.ampleforth.org/about/

Where can I buy?
Uniswap
Kucoin
Bitfinex

>borderline scam
Backed by American blockchain investment fund Panthera Capital
>The supply will keep inflating and sell pressure will never stop
That doesn't mean buy pressure can't outweigh sell pressure. The only thing that different is that the rebate will drop more coins in your wallet, which SHOULD translate into more sell pressure over time. If people are selling.
>this makes prolonged pumps impossible

https://sci.smithandcrown.com/research/ampleforth-report

It breaks down basically everything you'd want to know about AMPLs, especially how they stack against other cryptocurrencies.

What's most telling is the devs and initial investors have a 4 year total freeze on their stake, with 6 month thaws, meaning they can't whale dump in the short term.

Over the next 3 months, this is at least free money for holding. Though the devs say they have further plans to pump the mcap after the geyser.

I'm going to throw biz a bone (someone already said it in this thread tho). Geyser triples the rewards after 8 weeks. We are in week one. You guys understand what that means, right?
Geyser lasts 90 days btw, that's where ampl whales are stationed

That I don't know, depends of how much you put.
But it's going to pump for a while.

It's also important to note one thing. Whales on geyser will want to stay there 8 weeks because we are all getting fucked by the impermanent loss of uniswap and this shit flying in price kek. We all have less ampl than when we started and will need to make them make through the rewards multiplier and by price stabilizing.
I shouldn't have shilled this so hard here kek

>>20035401
I would say more than 8 weeks, because that's the starting point of the 3x multiplier. And I don't expect everyone to unstake as they are going to make more liquidity incentives and if ample is integrated into other defi projects the buying/selling pressure will partially support the crashes.
There's zero incentive to crash the price, anything higher than 1+0.05 makes whales money. The higher the price, the higher the yield too.

>>20035412
you can go to zapper.fi and check how much eth and ampl you have now. Yes you get more eth, but probably the difference between more eth and the geyser rewards, right now, probably don't cover the difference. But with the multiplier 3x it might cover. And you still get the fees (which I think are unaccounted in zapper)

>> No.20035550

>>20035412
>From what I understand we lose ampls but gain eth? this shit was discussed in the telegram but not sure what to do
Basically if one side of the pair pumps really hard, the pool becomes unbalaced and ends up with more of the coin that didn't pump, netting a loss. The Geyser is supposed to offset this for AMPL liquidity providers. Uniswap pools are most profitable for liq providers in a crab market with lots of trading.

As much as you can as early as you can. I don't know how many X the mcap can go, but we've already doubled in 2 days.

Like anything, getting in earlier is better, especially for the long term chad gains. Price per coin doesn't tell the whole story. They can price target based on the rebase rate, but the actual % of the supply you own will be less if you wait, so you'll get less rebase gains.

DeFi will do for crypto trading what sodastream did for soft drinks

>> No.20037534

A little crypto economics lesson:

Deflationary/commodity currencies like Bitcoin or Gold or burn tokens have a limited supply that cannot increase with time. Because of that they can only become more scarce and more valuable, but that means they are impractical for actual exchange to pay bills and whatnot as an economy grows. There's just not enough to go around. They can only act as a store of value, as long as there is demand for them.

Inflationary currencies like fiat dollars have a different problem. They can be printed on demand to scale as the economy grows, but too much printed means the dollars you hold today are worth less tomorrow. It's a scheme that can be abused to redistribute wealth to those who receive the "stimulus".

Ampleforth is an elastic currency that can print on demand like a fiat currency to scale with demand, but instead everyone gets a slice of the pie, in proportion to how much they already own. They can never be diluted out of their holdings. Ever.

Time will tell on the adoption of it for purchases and institutional holdings, but one look at the devs and backers will show you this isn't some fly by night pajeet game token. In the meantime, enjoy literally free money as people rush to this and taken advantage of the free money in the geyser as well. The way the math works out this thing writes its own headlines every night.

The goal seems to be to build up AMPL's liquidity and mcap enough that it will be used as a base money in DeFi, alongside (and eventually replacing) BTC and ETH in that role. If we see AMPL adopted and integrated into lots of the new DeFi protocols popping up that's a good sign. If a real stablecoin like DAI or RSV collateralizes some or all of its tokens with AMPL then it will have truly succeeded and will become a staple of the crypto world.

Rebases take effect over 10 days, not just 1 to move the price back down. However, as buy pressure pushes the price up, the subsequent rebase % stack and give even better yield. We might see little dips in price, but the $1 won't come back unless literally everyone sells.

Also, how do you mean? It's reasonable to assume that due to time zone differences rebase might take 24 hours to be fully realized. But I don't see how 10 days comes into play. Unless you're talking about chart trends and TA, which are subjective.

>> No.20041387

The rebase happens nightly at 10pm EST. The rebase adjustment for today's price changes happens on June 30, July 1, July 2, July 3, July 4, July 5, July 6, July 7, July 8, July 9.
The rebase adjustment for the price changes on July 1 will happen on July 1, July 2, July 3, July 4, July 5, July 6, July 7, July 8, July 9, July 10.
And so on each day.
They overlap so they stack. A bullrun day (like today) triggers fomo, so tomorrow is likely to also be a bullrun day, thus a cascading rush up.

A $1b mcap at $20 is 50m AMPLs.

However, since AMPLs scale with price, assuming same sell and buy pressure, $2.3->$20 is a 8.7x, meaning 204m AMPL total supply and so $4.08b mcap.

But, I'm not sure if that is right simply because the mcap can stay the same but the supply increase relative to it as it moves back down to $1.

So it's really down to how quickly it gets to $20 per AMPL. But $20/AMPL, $4.08b mcap, 204 AMPL supply, if same growth rate and ratio of buys to sells holds.
