Why so much hate for big four on this board?

I get going IB pays more, but that path is gated to so many people. Meanwhile you have people who lead national practices in B4 who come from no name schools.

namely, me. I got into M&A advisory in Big4 (yea I know lmaobig4 instead of Bulge Bracket but oh well) and after 1 year and a half my phone is burning with calls from recruiters, either for finance boutiques that pay twice as much as BB or hedge funds.

Granted, better to go into IB straight off but don't think you can't turn things around if you get into a good team in a Big4 firm.

I'd say it's mainly 1st-2nd years that realize Big4 isn't the path to insane riches like everyone says. Not saying it's terrible though.

I agree it not terrible, more accessible than IB to poorfags.

All the partners at the accounting firm I'm at came from big 4 originally. All the team leaders/managers came from there as well.

I'm ignorant to all this stuff but I get the sense its more of a bootcamp kind of thing, have to have experienced the big4 before you can be some kind of authority figure.

I'm trying to get into M&A. I'd actually prefer a small firm in a city I enjoy. How do?

It is. I work for a non-big 4 but still a large consulting firm with plenty of Big Four people. I make over $150k but my life is shit. I'm off-site this week for the first time in seven weeks, so shitposting while I can.
