So next year I'll be going into my junior year of college. I have a full time job lined up over the summer doing maintenance work and should make around 5k by the start of next semester. I also plan on working an on campus job next year.

How should I go about financing this money? I've been very bad at spending all of the money I earn over the summer over the course of the school year but want to be more wise with what I do with it next year. What would /biz/ recommend I do with the extra money I have from my summer job once I pay for my houses rental payments and etc? Should I start putting it into a 401k since I havent started one yet, or should I go for more short term investments? Should I even invest at all? Whats my smartest options in managing this money? Please help.
