>mid 20's living at home with parents and haven't worked in almost a year
>in college for engineering but between semesters cause summer and coronachan
>have like 200 bucks saved for gas and bills
>start warehouse job in a few days doing 2nd shift stocking work for 30hrs a week @ $13/hr
>no credit history
>no medical insurance
>no debt
>no self esteem. Too demoralized by my own failures and society falling apart to feel comfortable in any environment beyond literal slavery right now.

What do biz? How do I manage my wagie income so I can actually get independent and cut the cord from my fucking boomer parents before I'm done with school? It all feels so hopeless... I have a long way to go in my degree and I don't want to be stuck at home forever. I want to come up with a 1-2year plan for myself but idk where to start.

Quit your job, sign up for SNAP (food stamps) get free Medicaid and visit a therapist every day of the week if you live close to one. Do this for a few months and you'll have the self respect to get a good engineering job.

low self esteem =/= low self respect
I'm not a fucking nigger. Engineering jobs are out of reach until I have my degree. I'm asking how to budget what I can earn right now not how to get an ebt card...

Hey fren don't listen to these cucks they don't know fuck all

First of all you're lucky that you don't have debt. Second of all it's a good thing that you value your time.

I say you start saving your money hardcore. Of course living with your parents you can't save every penny and leech of them, but try. When you graduate, you'll have some decent money, try to put it into something safe, i'm sure banks around you have some kind of saving bank that pays you 5% each year or something. By that time you'll hopefully get a job, use that as an excuse to move out, from there you'll see opportunities flying at you, like working extra or being an online consultant. Shit comes up all the time.

Coronavirus fucked up my internship opportunities for the summer. I have some full time industry experience from a couple years ago and I'm competent in my field of study, I'm not stressing about the post graduation job search.

My issue is managing low income from jobs with flexible hours while in school. Since my last employment I focused solely on school and then rotted through coronachan lockdowns until now. I'm just exhausted and have resigned myself to wagie jobs because I don't want to larp and shill myself like some disingenuous kike.

Ok nigga. Start with your credit. You can't do shit without a Good Goy Score.

>Get the Discover IT secured with your first paycheck
>Buy a sandwich or something small every month
>Pay balance every month
>Eventually you'll get enough history to move to an unsecured card
>Get a new card every 6-8 months until you have a few lines of credit open

Graham Stephan has a good vid on the best credit cards for beginners.

Next (do this concurrently) is to get yourself ready to get the fuck out of your parents
>Save every penny you can while you're living at home
>Don't buy stupid shit, don't go out, mooch off your parents as much as possible
>Basically only pay for gas and car
>Put money you aren't spending on gas and car into a high interest savings account
>You can probably be saving at least $250/week for $1000/month
>12 months later, you'll have $12,000 saved up and when you get an engineering job you'll be ready to buy your own place
>Once you get a job, buy a duplex on FHA financing
>Live in one unit and rent other to pay mortgage and save like crazy

There is no easy solution for low self-esteem. Working will definitely go a long way towards improving things and being able to own a house once you graduate will help a lot. There is no shame in mooching off your parents while you get started.

Alternatively, you can get a Real Estate license and sell homes part-time while in college. If you sell a $200k home, you're typically getting a $2,500 payday all-in-all. You just have to be willing to hustle and market yourself.

Thanks bro. This is the exact advice I'm looking for. I had the secured credit card in mind and have been looking at options for that already. As far as the high interest savings account thing... the best they offer is like 1.5%

Say I am planning on moving out/buying a house in 18-24 months. After having saved ~5k or so, why shouldn't I start putting money into something that offers better roi?

That is what, 1500 before taxes?
How is housing in your area? If it is ultra cheap you could be on your own but you'd be scraping by and wasting a lot on rent unless its really cheap. You could get in a room mate/dorm mate/house mate situation if you don't care about living with other people.

>> No.19868404

>>19868251
Average studio/1br rent is ~800-1000 and it would be hard to qualify without recent income history or putting down a huge deposit. I've lived on my own and with roommates before, it was too expensive for me at the time and bled my savings down to nothing so now I'm back at home. It just feels bad that I fucked up trying to live beyond my means and now wake up in my childhood bedroom again... That's mostly the reason why I'm depressed for all you faggots telling me to go to fucking therapy lmao.

>> No.19868473

>>19868249
You could. But you have to be comfortable with the potential for it to go down in that time. And whatever return on investment you get on stonks pales in comparison to what you'll get from house-hacking.

1.5% is pretty good for a savings account right now.

I've been in that situation, wasted my money at a college dorm then had get myself off the ground afterwards.
With how little you'd be making from that job you'd be struggling and would be stressed out with a constantly depleted account and the fear of losing your job. Staying at home until you can get a better job would help a lot with money that you can use to get a better living arrangement and QoL later if you manage to get a degree and something that pays more/has more hours.
>That's mostly the reason why I'm depressed for all you faggots telling me to go to fucking therapy lmao.
Therapy can help if the people are good. I don't know your situation, but it may be worth trying.

Resolving self esteem issues is an intrinsic process, building confidence and restoring positive self image has to be done by you. The solutions are things you have to do yourself, things like building confidence by working, working out more, getting out of the house more... etc. If you are actually introspective and not an NPC, a therapist can't do anything for you that you can't do yourself (aside from prescribing drugs).
