It's actually not a big deal. Social media is just nuts. This pandemic is nothing compared to actual theoretical ones discussed in risk outlooks by actuaries.

It's more the over-reaction social media influences and sort of amplification of everything.

20 years ago you'd never have protests in Europe or Japan over some police murder in USA.

We live in a very weird time with people increasingly losing touch with reality.

That's all right. I was a wagie too until, well, you know. If money wasn't a concern I would gladly stay a NEET for the rest of my life. I hated office work with every fiber of my being. I agree with your sentiment completely. But industry insiders (the ones who aren't completely institutionalized) are generally better sources of insight about their industries than external observers. That's not to say anything about the insight former wagies have about wagies in general.

Curious why anyone would think the market is on the verge of tanking significantly. We're in the unique situation of stocks being one of the only assets outpacing inflation. Bond yields are trash, buying housing doesn't make sense because there isn't a demand for renters due to unemployment, businesses aren't being created or expanding so capital isn't being dumped into that.

Holding cash means you are objectively losing money due to inflation and rising consumable asset prices, where else would people put their money?

>if you had just went completely 100% all in at this one exact inopportune moment in time
is just as ridiculous as the corresponding bullish arguments, about what would happen if you had bought bitcoin or some stock at the exact lowest point and sold at the exact highest point.
people make these arguments because they're easier to make than taking into account any sort of complexity.
But the fact of the matter is, if you had bought stocks with your spare income throughout the 20's and 30's, you would have been fine. It doesn't matter how poorly someone would have done if they went in 100% on the absolute peak and never bought stocks again, because no one is, or should ever be, doing that in the real world. It's a phony argument.

I didn't go to school, but my starting salary was 60K. Programmers get raises by changing jobs, not through seniority. Like I said, you don't understand the tech industry. It may be an outlier but frankly, most of the people who would hang out in a stock market thread on Sunday night to check in to futures at open have disposable incomes anyway, so you're dealing with a sample bias, not a conspiracy.

>nobody would be working the 60k jobs if they could get 120k by moving down the street

When you're starting out, you don't have that flexibility. You'll take what you can get, and you'll low-ball your ideal salary, and if you don't the companies you're scrambling to impress will low-ball you. Through field experience and building a repertoire of skills you gain the leverage necessary to ask for higher wages, and eventually you build enough of a reputation to justify a 100K+ salary. It doesn't happen overnight.

Again, you don't understand these industries. Resent them, fine. Resent the people in them, okay. But resentment is not understanding. Cynicism is not wisdom.

If that happened, stocks and real estate would plunge by up to 90%. Highest P. E. ratios in history, and house prices at 8x earnings. Assets are only propped up because minuscule yields mean minuscule risk-free return, hence people need any place to store their money to escape inflation. To give you a sense of how fragile the system is, in late 2018, when Powell let yields go to only 3%, stocks crashed from 26,500 to 22,500 before he had to restart Q. E. again. Now, even 1% yields may crash the market.

Maybe once it gets to an untenable level where we're seriously on the brink of a dollar collapse, but not before.

They'll choose to keep printing money because nobody thinks inflation will happen again. When it does eventually get back up to the 2% target it will be heralded as a good thing. Then it will drift past 2% and it will still be heralded as a good thing because it's now "making up for past deflation". I'm not pulling that out of my ass either, Powell and FOMC have already changed the language to "symmetric target" and discussed letting inflation "run hot" to "stimulate" growth. As it goes past 3 and 4% they'll come up with other PhD excuses why it's still a good thing, why it's different this time, why nobody should be worried. As it runs past 5 and 6% they'll start recalculating CPI and other metrics again to make it look like it's lower than it actually is (same way they do today, but with even more jew).

This will go on for years before anything is done about it. Only once this slow burning cancer has wrought havoc that nobody can deny, will the Fed ever consider sacrificing wall street.

any NEET or low skill worker should have to start out their posts with "I never worked hard on anything and I've wasted the last 5+ years of my life"
why don't you start the paragraph like that?
it's incredibly damaging

working hard shouldn't be some magical exception that you have to make a special note of; it should be the expectation. So to be clear, my first salary was for a full-time position, and my last was a contracting position. Contractor wages are often higher than the norm. My adjusted full-time salary if I had converted would have been at around 90-100K. But a lot of people remain contractors for exactly this reason.

I also performed well and enjoyed positive reception in most of the places I worked, so it was a natural upward glide. The position I held before my last was closer to 90K. Before that, 80K. And so on. New employers don't ask you for your salary history; they just ask what you're looking for. And as you gain an understanding of average wages (in that industry, and based on actual experience, not google searches) you acquire bargaining power.

You miss the point. The market immediately crashed 4000 points, and the rout was only halted by emergency Q. E., even though the Fed had lied and said that it was now going to raise rates and shrink its balance-sheet. What 2018 exposed is that the Fed was lying to everybody, and was caught permanently in a debt trap, from which the only escape is hyperinflation or default.

The market, which is ultra-fragile wouldn't crash to 22,500 if yields creeped up to 1%. It would crash and keep crashing. Only a constant in-flow of liquidity can prevent that. The March rout was only finally halted by injecting $6 trillion. This next rout is going to require YCC and $20 trillion.

i dont care if people have a nice cushy job if they keep it to themselves.

what im telling you is over the years i have encountered a body of people online and in real life
whos intention is to make their job seem a lot better than it is and paying way higher than it does
in order to nullify the idea that they are a wage slave. even if they actually make as much as they say they do
they wouldnt need to tell everybody if it was as cushy as they claim. they even start to brag and become rude about it.

they will say things like I usually just play video games while i watch the cameras im a security guard and i get 60k a year and get benefits.
it could be something as simple as that

but people have this biological urge to try to tell you how good they have it not only to trigger somebody else so they can claim
they are better than you and be condescending towards other people who dont have it as good. but they also do it so they dont have
to cry in their sleep as a wage slave.

a honest person would not even mention their wages and they would just kind of be upfront about the downsides of their work and how
they wish they didnt have to do it because most people hate their jobs its a statistic and a fact.

they wouldnt be like HAHA I JUST GO INTO WORK AND PUSH A FEW BUTTONS AND IM DONE XD BOOP 200K IN MY BANK

>Except this is an exogenous shock

Coronavirus shutdowns were the exculpatory cover for a market which was already on the verge of collapse. Otherwise they could not have got away, politically, with all the Q. E. they have done to prop it back up again.

Ray Dalio and Bridgewater, speaking to the Financial Times in Jan. 2020, long before the coronavirus panic started:

https://www.ft.com/content/1c90b8d6-36f6-11ea-a6d3-9a26f8c3cba4

"Mr Jensen said he would not rule out the possibility that the Fed could slash rates to zero this year as it looks to avoid recession and disinflationary pressures."

"Bridgewater's co-chief investment officer Greg Jensen told the Financial Times that gold prices could rally to $2,000 an ounce."

"Although rate cuts by the Fed have bolstered equity markets, Mr Jensen said the group was “more cautious” on US stocks, describing them as “frothy”."

Bridgewater accurately placed a $1.5 billion options bet that the stock market would plunge by March 2020:

The reason why this is not like 2016 is obvious. Yields can't go beyond even a fraction of a percent now. Even 3% crashed the market in late 2018, and America is now 26 trillion in debt. The Fed is out of ammunition. The debt is going to be completely monetized soon. That means high inflation and a crash in the bond market.

So much of it was/is shilling media kikes (wear you cuck mask! le social distancing! unless you're a nigger!) and uniparty political scum, like in Ohio. Gov. DeWine did/does jackshit while jewish abortion doctor health director Amy Acton crippled the economy and Mayor Andy Ginther allows his pet niggers to tear up downtown and the Statehouse, ordering the police to stand down through his Public Safety Director. Also, the media's new kike term will be (((chemical agent))). Look for that more and more because it sounds worse than pepper spray.
In the meantime I'll sit and watch people panic online and IRL, especially Millennial faggots who have become queens of the cuck mask. They really embarrass themselves driving around alone in their shitbox plastic cars wearing their cuck masks. In terms of gold, which is the measuring-stick of inflation, stocks have gone down this year, vastly. It can only get worse from here. Even when the Fed turns on the money-printers to halt this crash in September/October, stocks will only be going up because of high inflation, like Venezuela or Zimbabwe. In terms of gold, you will be losing money, so it will be a real, if not a nominal crash.
