Figured it out, it is a few options where there is no bid so robinhood has it's code auto set prices to 0.01. One defintely has volume except it's been crabbing long enough that volume likely shifted to a lower strike. No wonder I'm "down" 6k. Nonetheless getting pissed off as stocks have only been crabbing for like a week now. Premium is dropping quickly for anything in July noticeably but everything further out still has it high as heck. Jeeez at least a hard swing down or up is worthwhile (cheapies or gains), but crabbing is only slowly chipping away at premium and it rarely lasts long enough to take advantage off via selling calls or puts.

Every day the allocation is reset, meaning if 1 share of TQQQ at $100 was $10 of GOOGL, $10 of MSFT and $10 of AAPL ($70 whateverthefuck), then at end of day, if MSFT went up 50% and the rest didn't budge, the assets represented by one share would be skewed. Thus, it's rebalanced so that next morning, 1 share at $105 represents $10.5 AAPL, $10.5 MSFT and $10.5 GOOGL, etc.
Other than that, they are well-managed and as a result correctly track 3x the underlying quite effectively, hence they multiply both risk and reward. If the stock market goes down 33.34%, they are worth $0 and you lose everything. But since the stock market usually goes up more than it goes down, you end up compounding insane gains and getting 230% gains in a good year.

So yesterday I bought a few deep OTM calls for SPY at $315 that expire today. SPY gapped up this morning and this worked tremendously in my favor and I was able to sell some of them.

Aside from the obvious issues (forced to exercise for less/no net profit, they expire uselessly if the underlying stock doesn't go up enough) is there any reason not to do this when making really wild shots. Incredibly low premium and huge profit swing if it stock reaches a certain point.

I guess only other thing I can think of is outside of very few popular stocks you're not gonna find anyone selling their calls when they're already that worthless.

There's a lot of ways to make money in the market. Your question is whether what you're doing can make you money in the market reliably. I suspect no, but the only way to find out is to experiment with no bias towards the result. I spent 6 months trying to make one approach work and the equity curve just went lower and lower and lower. I spent a week on another before it made all of the money back from the 6 month stubborn experiment and just continued to work. What works will work obviously. It won't even be questionable. It doesn't require any dopey day trading nonsense "Oh you have to fail for 10 years before you magically one day wake up and become a profitable day trader!" That's horse shit to sell you courses, books, subscriptions, blog clicks, etc. What works will obviously work and it will generally work quickly. When it doesn't work, it will be pretty clear why it didn't work and you'll be able to adjust. So experiment.
