It's unsustainable long term, if wages go up 2%, but housing goes up 8%, at what point do massive parts of the population become homeless? Or if you make $1M dollars, the entry level home would be $10M?

It looks like fucking Nigeria in every west coast modest to major city.
Every freeway entry has at least 10 camping tents under the bridge and I mean literally every single one, you drive to any other part of the city and you'll find shanty towns on every corner, I work full time almost 12 hours 7 days and I still can't afford a fucking apartment I sleep in a van because I would have literally pay all my monthly salary just to keep up with rent and bills, even renting a room with some other fuck up will cost me half my salary, the closest affordable place I can find is literally 100 away from the city and I know this price are all bullish because my city is littered with for sale signs, no one is buying, no one is making new lease, everybody is barely surviving and they're still charging 2500 bucks for some noisy moldy shit box in the middle of the nigger ghetto just because they know either the government will subside or the chinks will buy houses in blocks through JPMorgan.

The government has failed miserably in their ever quest for forever growth and even dumb fucking idiots with not 2 neurons to rub together can see the farce, the emperor has no fucking clothing and is still pretending his hogging shit

Now it costs 1,000 just to coat it because of regs. One manhole now is 10 grand.

it doesn't have to be depressing if you actually have a good job, money in the bank. and do it for cleanliness, simplicity. peace of mind, lack of clutter.
especially if the few things you do have are of high quality, pleasing and actually have useful practical purpose.
also since i'm in an apartment, it's by default a temporary rental living situation, so the more things i accumulate the more i have to pack, transport, store, move, unpack, when i leave the apt.
if i settle into a permanent home someday, then I will relax and allow myself to accumulate more furnishings and such. no sense in accumulating all that shit while living as a nomad

this is a huge issue that isn't being reflected in the economy at all; american housing is garbage. walls are all paper thin, doors and windows are cheap vinyl, most of them haven't been properly maintained, some still have iron pipes and asbestos ceilings. this entire country is a fucking mess.

It's not just the lack of furnishing, it's the shitty old carpeting and lack of light sources. I wouldn't want to sit in this apartment. But yes the furnishing bothers me too, even a loveseat, coffee table and some art on the walls would be a massive improvement
