Knowing /biz/ this is probably accurate.

I'm doing one with

MCD
YUM
CMG
BKW
THI
DRI
DNKN
PNRA
DPZ
WEN

It's all restaurants, but I think I want to get some other stocks in there that would be related to the stocks mentioned.

I'm going to go by total market cap; free-float market cap; average price; and equal weight. There's a few fundamental ratios I think I might want, but I need to figure that out.

An index without a purpose is just a portfolio.

Also, what are the constraints?
>Domestic, Global, equity, fixed income, currency, commodities?
How will it be weighted?
>Price-weighted, cap-weighted, equal-weighted?

OK, where should it land on the Morningstar style matrix?
>Large-cap, small-cap, value, growth?
Balanced fund?

Should it be all common equity?

We can start with ideas posted here. I'm starting my own with restaurants, so I'd like to see something else.

>>199888

Domestic seems easier to me, but is everyone else American? I don't know a good way to weight an index, so why not do what's out there? Price, cap, free-float, equal, etc.? I think it would provide a bigger picture, anyhow, as there are pros and cons to each one.

What about transpiration companies that are going to spearhead automated family vehicles? While cutting out the energy part of the car may sound appeasing, I think automating them would have less political resistance.

Could you explain this to a newfag like me?

I'm taking securities from an industry and tracking their daily closing price, their market cap at close, and the free-float market cap at close.
