this is the top reading list taking from /lit. Now that ChainLink success is around the corner, take some time out over the next few months to really ground and develop yourself through the lessons in these books.
Remember smart people learn from their mistakes, wise people learn from others.
Enjoy!
I also went to the liberty of jotting down the estimated reading time for the entire collection at around 970 hours (the range being from 1.5 hour short stories to 70 hour big boi books).
Enjoy!
Also if you're new just invest in BTC/ETH/LINK don't waste the potential of your cash on shitcoin moon missions.

GBFM ECOnOMICZ MAXIM # 1:

A woman’s courtship value is equal or less than the lowest price she ever gave her pussy away for. lzozozoz

After a woman has had a one-night stand
or given her pussy for free
her courtship value
is 0.
or less than 0.

As why would you want to be the guy
who pays for what others got when it was younger hotter tighter
forty pounds lighter
for freeee?

lzozlzozlzzo

After a woman passes 25, whence she has generally been buttcocked numerous times and desouled, her courtship value is negative. It is the woman, who is now wired fiat bernanke cash and allowed to excel in fiat bernanke programs that drug up and dumb down boyz while deocntsructing da GREAT BOOKS 4 MENZ and creating far more debt than wealth while bankruping the West morally amnd moneetarily, who must pay the man so as to court him.

For a 25 year old multi-buttocked, desouled, bernankifed woman represents a huge risk to a man’s livelihood, his time, his conscience, his soul, his future earnings, and his general well-being. And the man must be compensated justly so as to have to court a woman over 25 who has been buttcocked and deousled and converted by the cenrta; bankerz into a vehicle of welath transfer lzozlz so dey could convert their masisve fiat debt into physical property by leveraging a woman’s sexuality for prviate profit gains while placing all teh risksz on good menz zlozzllz.

Bump great post. I been active on lit for a few years now, migrated over here relatively recently to get a lay of the land. This is a good list, not exhaustive but has some seriously good recs popular and unknown. Moby-Dick obv a great place to start and among the more accessible on the list (so long as length does not deter you). Currently reading Brothers Karamazov rn and it goes dummy hard. Something not on this list that I think many on this board would like is called Neuromancer by William Gibson. A Clockwork Orange is also incredible and can be finished pretty quickly too.

I have a retard brain. I've read a lot of books but I can't retain the information, I created a list so I could keep track of every book I've read. I forgot about it, rediscovered the list about a year later and some of the books in the list I don't even recognize the title.

Other books on the list, at best, I can remember one, MAYBE two meaningful things from it. I like reading, it's relaxing and I feel like I'm doing something productive, as opposed to watching YouTube. But quite clearly reading books isn't really working for me, should I even bother continuing?

These are some good questions. Re: the startup books -- Hard to say as I haven't read the ones you mentioned in particular, but if you're interested in startups or trying to start one yourself then it's probably a good place to be. I'm more concept-driven when it comes to stuff like that, so when I was trying to scratch a tech itch, I read something like The Master Algorithm by Pedro Domingos about machine learning. As for what you might gain from reading the books on the /lit/ list, almost exclusively novels except for 4-6 works of philosophy/theology, this is a question that philosophers have been debating for centuries: the utility of the aesthetic experience (which is essentially experiencing art, which is what you are striving to do by reading novels). It's really hard to put into words. Books are knowledge, yes, but books are also reflection. You may find these novels to lead you to a greater exploration, if not understanding, of yourself, your desires, your aspirations, your fears. I can't really explain it well. I'd suggest starting with one of the books and just keep reading, even if it's boring or doesn't make sense. Ones with good stories will be Moby-Dick, Brothers Karamazov, Slaughterhouse Five

One way of solving this, which I am too lazy to do, is highlight the best bits of the book, go back and put those highlights into a Google Doc. Have all your docs organized, and periodically open those docs to review and absorb that information.

It takes discipline, because natural inclination when we wake up is to some unproductive activity like fuck around on biz on or youtube, and fry our dopamine receptors for the day.

Hey guys, sorry I was afk with family. Well I think thats an important note to make because after all if we don't seemingly retain the knowledge than whats the point? Whilst at uni I thought likewise and put myself off reading because of it. It makes me think of the quote by Ralph Waldo " I cannot remember the books I've read any more than the meals I have eaten; even so, they have made me". So in short, even if you can't remember the chapters, events of a book, or even just the general narrative, it doesn't mean that a latent change hadn't occurred. Even if its seemingly negligible stick with it and I would have no doubt you will find it making a positive impact. Honestly if you find yourself still struggling with attention whilst reading get on the audiobooks, if I just need to relax Ill play rocket league and just have it on in the background - we're only human so sometimes you gotta find some sneaky workarounds to make up for our limits (plus it allows me to play videogames without feeling like Im wasting time haha). Good luck

I agree but keep in mind that St. John's adopted this curriculum around 1935 when Joyce was seriously bleeding edge. Faulkner and Woolf were probably added some time between 1935-1970 and they would both have an easier time clearing any hurdles to be added. Joyce often offends delicate sensibilities, and I say this as someone who claims Joyce as his favorite author, I read his corpus (minus Finnegans Wake) once a year
