I have a feeling he had a credit spread execute. He likely didn’t lose 700k, he likely sold 700k in options, but bought options at a different strike to cap his losses and gains into a credit spread. Robinhood does not execute the long leg of the trade until the next day, displaying negative purchasing power to the user

This is a credit spread on BABA I did back in December. Even though I only lost $20, the app displayed negative purchasing power.

Right. It's not a temporary "glitch". It's the actual state of his trades at that moment in time. It would have changed the next day. But at that point in time it was not showing anything unintended or anything inaccurate, he just didn't understand what he was seeing or what he was doing.

Kid is a fucking retard and died for nothing.
Years ago I had SPY calls assigned in after hours session on a Friday. Account showed -$213k on Saturday. Called my broker and traded out of it in the pre-market that Monday. Only cost to me was a $120 fee to Schwab.

Do not trade with Robinhood.

Realistically, how would the economy be affected if we made options trading illegal for individuals? Don't think of yourself / greedily. Would it actually affect anything? I don't think people should have the power to make leveraged bets

That’s because you’re a communist. You always probably think drugs should be banned and gambling too. A big fuck you for hating freedom. Kys
