We are already in GFC 2: Corporate Debtaloo. The reason we are in this meme 'kangaroo market' is because investors have not decided whether the USD will be sufficiently devalued in time for when everybody admits the emperor is naked. Some people think there will be a crash beforehand, others think Jerome's printers will catch up first. The important thing is, NOBODY thinks these companies are worth the prices that are being paid for them today.
I won't give financial advice because I honestly have no idea what is going to happen. There will be mass poverty and unemployment, and assets will be worth more than they are now in 2-3 years time. Those are pretty much the only certainties.

That wouldn't affect the stock price like that. The volume is 1, not a multiple of 100, for one. You can't exercise options after hours, for two. It's not based on a random exchange, it's options clearing house at all times, for three.

In light of Norwegian Cruise Line's decision to put cruising on hold for all (or nearly all) ships until November, a thought popped into my head:

Is it possible that some companies are actually trying to go bankrupt, with Covid as the scapegoat? What would they stand to gain from that, if anything? Are there any anons here familiar enough with bankruptcy and corporate bylaws who might have thoughts on this? It's my understanding that insider shares are paid out first, so the corporate "core" is made whole first, and retail shareholders are left holding the empty bags after restructuring. If this is true, then Norwegian and other companies could be planning on going bankrupt for the benefits it entails. If this is impossible please correct me.

Another thing I find interesting is that Carnival still seems to be planning on beginning cruises again soon. Not on ALL ships but on some, sort of like trial balloons. So this strategy may not be endemic to all companies (if it's real at all).

Thoughts?

I recently changed my Schwab taxable account to cash from margin so that I can avoid the PDT rules. Really enjoying it. Can do these kinds of quick trades for as long as I have free cash, and since options settle overnight those funds are free and clear the next day. Until I'm not a sub $25K marginlet I really can't see going back to those damn PDT restrictions. I've found that options nearly will always give you 1 or 2 chances to bail out, usually with some profit even if it's a tiny win. It might be a fleeting moment, but doing these small momentum trades as much as you can really adds up nicely. Basically just watch for those huge ramps, jump in and jump out, good for a nice 10-20% realized gain and there you have it.

I think each company is taking a different approach depending on their own philosophy. Carnival sold shares and took on new, better debt in a balance sheet restructure that was clearly aligned with a philosophy that 'the show must go on.' Mean while we haven't seen this level of commitment from Norwegian. Norwegian appears to be much more willing to acquiesce to the general narrative that people have no agency, they can't think for themselves and decide whether to take a risk of getting sick. A couple of months ago Norwegian was already hinting that they may not be able to continue as 'a going concern.' This is a fancy way of flashing bankruptcy warnings to investors. Carnival made no similar warning.

I guess what I'm getting at is painting all businesses, or even sectors, with a broad brush is a mistake. I think we're going to see a divergence in strategy, where some companies see Covid as being too much work and expense to mitigate and so bankruptcy is a better out, while others just want to give the people what they want if they are willing to take the risk of doing so. Very different philosophies with very different results, especially for shareholders.

Yes, Florida is the one they are going after in particular, for a couple reasons:
1. It's where Trump moved the convention. It's a political target of opportunity.
2. Florida is the most aggressive in testing, in part because DeSantis is a great governor and in part because there are lots of old people there so it makes sense.

One thing to note is that deaths have not kept up with cases for some weeks now. This suggests that either treatment is improving, or those most susceptible tend to be the ones infected most easily in a pandemic (or some combination). I tend to believe the latter is more important in this case. Noe one wants to talk about the innate immune system vs the adaptive immune system, but people who are healthy tend to have strong innate immune systems. This system prevents you from ever being sick to begin with. Thus people with weak innate systems are more likely to have become sick in the initial big wave, and therefore were also more likely to die, which skewed the apparent lethality of the virus.

My personal belief is that every time the MSM FUDs the market and it results in an appreciable drop, this is always a great dip-buy opportunity. So far I haven't been wrong on this strategy and I'm up well over 100% as a result of trading it.

literally NO ONE watches CNN
It's all boomers (and incompetant young people who don't know that they can get actual news on the internet) watching Fox News and then some libs watch MSNBC.

Every night growing up, after the simpsons reruns, Fox would play a commercial with a terrifying question like "TONIGHT on Fox News At 10, a dangerous new drug that turns children into rapists and they don't know they're even on it! Could your child be on it? The signs to watch out for and more at 10 o'clock!"

TV news is built to hit fear. If it bleeds it leads. They can't go for sex like Mexican TV, so they have to hit fear hard.

That's actually why I was shocked when CNBC was downplaying it for fucking months. The government must have had their foot on the throats of MSM to keep them from talking about it.

Regret not selling. Anyone else in a similar situation and beating themselves up over it? How do you all set your stop loss limit orders?

Eg: It hits $10, you immediately sell stocks at a limit order of $9.80. Or do you have a different recommendation?

It was a calculated risk that I was expecting to pay off more months into the future, didn't expect it to pump so soon. Considering the volatility I was considering puting something like 180k as the limit (should a sharp drop occur). Would've kept a bunch on Tuesday's sharp drop. But instead I forget or was indecisive and do nothing about it. What the heck I'm so retarded I even knew there was limited upside once it hit 200k. Haven't messed with trailing stops much iirc so should go take a look in a bit so I can prepare myself.

>>19765519

Yeah last year I lost about 10k when my account was smaller and I gtfo'd from stocks and options. Seems like the bigger the account gets the bigger the hit needs to be to feel it.

>>19765522
That and I felt like I was in a strange haze. I wasn't fully responding to my own thoughts of putting a stop loss. Would've walked away with 180k had I done it (probably slightly less as I wouldn't have sold other things in my portfolio but I'd likely be above 170k).

Oh well I'm now in a position where it'll be difficult for me to lose whether the market pumps, dumps, or crabs. Iust a waiting game as I'm finally not running the math incessantly looking for the next picks.

Because one will looking at individual corporate stock values and the other will be looking at who's holding the bag of shit (BLK).
This is repeat of 2008 in that BLK is holding onto all the dogshit assets while everyone else things their shit doesn't stink.

Some mook asset manager is gonna look at the historics of some ticker price of a company that flatlined in revenues during the shutdown and think the thing is solvent; not realizing that it's levered out the ass by offloading junk bonds to BLK / The Fed.
Institutional investors are probably seeing the writing on the wall with their big brother Blackrock and are probably unloading their positions before the mook asset manager loses his shirt and skin.
Unloading into to what, I don't know but that asset bubble will probably pop too.

Meanwhile Blackrock can't do shit because they made a deal in blood with the Feds to eat the shit for the privilege of getting even richer over the past few months. They'll probably get bailed out since they hold all the pensions, but everyone else is in for a wild ride.

In nominal terms? Maybe. I can't imagine how many dumb as bricks retail traders are going to be over the moon about their 500% gains, as 600% inflation appears once the big boys rush into bonds.

I originally did but the money that I made off the amarin run got wasted on me chasing stupid plays and then I held. I went in with 6.5k was stuck at 4.7k for a year and was recovered to 6.7k before rona got out the first week at 5.7 and bought back in and held. Its like I could never keep my gains if I took them because then I would fall for a trap or get into a stock at the wrong time.

As of now I'm at 5.5k and holding RTX, SSL, OKE, MRO, and TELL in the hopes that the market doesn't shit the bed again like march. I haven't moved any of my positions which although are in the green are still suspect to fluctuation.

If this doesn't work out I will see myself out in this style.

This is a huge point. Markets are make believe and inflated, real estate has been inflating in its own wild bubble for a decade, the fed is furiously trying to keep bond yields low to prevent a torrent of money rushing into them from the market and wiping out every 401k and pension in existence.

The only undervalued sector is commodities. Even equities are overpriced. Are we going to get to watch the lowest traders on the totem poll shooting it out on Wall Street to claim delivery of physical gold?

And yes RH can easily fuck ya up. Agreed.

From a software engineering design standpoint. It looks dead simple to traverse and get the hang of.

beats me.
they're really pushing this thing.

but honestly there's no outlet here. the whole thing is macro focused and they completely forgot about the micro: people actually need money to buy goods & services for all this to work.
an 18% increase in sales from May will do absolutely fuck all to meet the how much was levered to keep stock market afloat over the past few months.

no amount of "bouncing back" will fix this.

I hope that shit gets cracked wide open.
the average guy will be able to pay off his 30-year mortgage with easily with the monopoly money.

it'd be a debt jubilee for the masses and a kick in the dick to the international banking cartels.
