I don't understand why everyone treats houses solely as an investment/assets. I don't really consider my car as an asset, it is something that I need and use every day, and I plan on driving it into the ground where it becomes more expensive than it is worth to keep fixing, so I will either scrap it or sell it for cheap. If you take a mortgage with a downpayment, why not invest it into the broader stock market? I have them in TSLA and the returns are incredible.

The downside is I pay 1400*12 = 16800 USD in rent, annually. But in the long run, my asset has a 13%+ ROI (no downpayment, and lets say rent is approximately mortgage each month).
