>thinking the direction of the stock market is governed by human behavior.

Actual investments made by humans are like 5% of market activity. The rest of the trading is done by computer AI that are programmed to create a perpetual bull market. Humanity could be completely wiped off the planet and there would still be servers sitting in a basement somewhere driving the stock market up to record new highs for the rest of eternity.

Because where the fuck else are you putting your money? You buying up bonds in your robinhood account? You getting some sweet returns on a CD in your bank? You scooping up all that discount real estate? You investing back into yourself by going to a university, because we all know how great that ROI is in this environment? You starting up a business because there are just so many opportunities and access to credit so you can start clothing/apparel brand #80 quadrillion or maybe a food truck? Sitting in some sweet cash while the Fed has committed to basically printing infinite amounts of money? Precious metals? Crypto? Where do you think you are?

I've been selling all day today after loading up in the morning. That's just how you do this stuff. The vast majority of people have a fundamental misunderstanding of how you optimally should interact with markets and really any data sets that behave like markets for that matter. They also have enormously flawed beliefs about their capabilities when interacting with the market. All these people are trying to figure out how to control the weather or control the tides, when their problem is they should learn first how to build a better ship and then learn how to sail around the weather and around the tides. It's so upside down it's ridiculous.

Guys I appreciate the idea, but I bought gold and silver after the last dip. Because I still felt there is more to come and I didn't want to get burned in stonks. The plan basically was and still is to potentially buy the dip, once the Dow is at a realistic price around 10k. Problem is that we will have several major pumps and dumps down that road. And everything will go down as well, even metals and crypto. So I want to be in cash to buy stuff when this happens. Then sell again after the bear traps. I don't know how to perfectly time the market, but reaching an all time high during a complete corona fuckup economy is more or less a good sign that something will be happening soon.

It's not guaranteed that gold and gold stocks will plummet on the next leg down. (https://goldsilver.com/blog/how-would-gold-perform-in-a-second-stock-market-crash/.).) If you believe that gold and silver are manipulated, there might also be a default on the exchanges at any time, which would cause the price to explode immediately. So be careful. You don't want to be completely in cash, only partly so.

I get your point but they have plummeted everytime since I can remember, so I'm pretty comfortable taking that bet. The idiots are clearly highly over leveraged again and will have to margin call out of their hedges (at a loss ofc). Especially this time, there are so much fresh blood around, this people are in full greed mode atm. they will get hammered hard. It's basically as easy as stealing a lolli from a baby.

Picture related is what happened on the second leg down of the 2008 crash. That was where gold was weakest on the second leg down, but even there it rose a little. I also think, as I say, that the risk of a paper-market collapse is very serious. Go to Arcadia Economics and see how many people in the PM space are predicting it imminently. If I were sitting all in cash right now, I'd be very nervous, because, any day now, according to Peter Schiff, we might see a situation opposite to that which we saw with respect to negative oil prices in the oil futures market.

This is kinda silly, people are pushing the btc stock correlation lately and confirm it because of the covid crash. Thing is, virtually every asset crashed during that liquidity crisis including precious metals. I really dont think its correlated with stocks to the degree that everyone is making it out to be. Seems like bobo hopium to me.

>> No.19735698

BTC crashed much worse than stocks did. Fared even worse than silver. Went down over 50%. Gold went down about 10%, and then bounced back within days. If you were holding gold, you could have sold it, bought BTC at the bottom, and tripled your money on the way up.
