How do I convince my wife to allow me to invest in cryptocurrency? We currently have all our money in a 0.1% savings account because it's "safe and reliable". I can't get it through her head that we're basically losing money by keeping it in that account. I've essentially gotten to the point where I remind my wife of all the credit card debt I've accrued over time that I pay off, so when she gets money in I just invest it-because she's paying me back. Take a portion and move it into a high interest savings (+1%). You can use CDs or Money markets, too, but keep enough in the high interest savings account to cover emergencies. This should make your wife feel safe while not committing basic financial suicide.
Then, take the other portion of your money (beyond emergency 3-6 months if in stable job) and invest in the stock market. Explain to your wife that you have enough in savings for big time emergencies and you will be okay if this money lost value. You can explain that long term this will gain value and lead to more money.
Finally, take a very small portion of that stock money, and tell your wife you would like to invest in Crypto. You will have to explain that it is highly volatile, but can lead to large gains quickly. If she says this is basically gambling, she is right, it is. But you have a greater chance of winning with this, and you have to assure her that you will not go beyond this small fraction of your net worth.
If you want to go beyond that, you have a problem. You are not thinking in terms of a family, you are thinking like a single man. If you lose a lot, that is a massive loss for your family. There is no real get rich quick. The rewards of crypto are matched by their risks. Be patient with your wife, risk can be scary, and women value security. Make her understand that she can fully trust you.
