Here here. Why are dividends so hard to understand?

Easily used as a stunt and shares can be expanded thus defeating the purpose.

> Reinvest all profits
Sounds great until the company finally loses momentum and rapidly loses capital as investors dump it.

> Sell shares in retirement
Works when the market keeps going up, not so hot when returns are negative. Also, who sold people on the idea of selling off what they own? Dividends mean never selling and ever-growing yield on cost is the key.

I don't have enough money to make significant gains with dividends.
When I'll finish studying and will have a salary I'll shift towards less risky investments, atm I'm swingtrading and it's working ok, made +10% gains last month.
