Cus I am fucking idiot that knows Jack shit about investing, I just kept repeating my self that oil can't never fail, so I long on the first drop, then I put a second long on the second drop and now I am fucked, I also bought at the top on some companies cus I panic and was trying to make things better but then things just got worst, yesterday I didn't buy shit mostly cus all my money is going in to boomer pockets and today I closed the first long with almost a 90% lost before it becomes more useless on Monday, I kept the first long in the off chance it might jump a dollar or 2 next week and off load bags if possible with enough to start over again.
Today I dip in to my earnings to put another long and I almost immediately regret it, it's on moderna so I know it's not going anywhere and it my start bumping on the news that's what literally happened the last time so I am not too worry about that.

I just need an oil pump so i can recover just a buck from that stupid mistake, again lesson learn good thing this happened with nothing but gains and it isn't even that much, if I had lost something like 100 kis I would be buying a rope I swear, I just wish I pulled that money when I had it before I convinced to go and chase that fucking dragon, I need that money, I am broke as all fucks and 5k would look really nice in my bank account.
Never again, I learn my lesson, get then gains out before you go on a hunt, I need to build an office to read charts and news, I didn't even knew there was an OPEC meeting, that's what caused this fucking plunge after all.

Yeah, today I broke my normal rule that I'm not supposed to daytrade with my retirement account. I had been wanting to change my assets in the account, so I started off by trading out. Then I traded into an opportunity. Then I made 3 more small trades for small profits. Then I had one bad trade which dropped me by about 2k, but I thought I made an obvious mistake of selling too soon so I chided myself and thought there was lots of time left in the day to make it back. So then when my next trade started to go wrong I decided to hold longer, and then ended up losing even more. 8k down in one day from fucking around like an idiot, on top of the major losses from bagholding during the early crashing this week.

My options account still has about $800 left in it, down from 5k at its peak. Hoping to rebuild that one, maybe get some XOM puts next week.

Anon, some advice. Do that dumb shit in your brokerage account, Lose it all. Dumb, but OK.

But your retirement account is for shit you buy with the understanding that you don't sell until you're in a rocking chair.

E.g. an S&P500 mutual fund or ETF,

I have a similar, albeit less retarded story, but I follow my advice, and while I had grand visions of 3x my money in brokerage account, all I did for my Roth is put it in a mutual fund, and what do you know... it's up over 20% while my brokerage WAS up 20% but is now break even. It might go up again, it might keep crashing, but the point is, at least the Roth isn't bouncing around like a fucking rubber dildo

Well first you need to identify what is usual variance in the price of the stock to get a baseline. Example would be if you look through months of history and you see that the stock usually goes up/down about 5%, then you know anything significantly more than that is an outlier. So something like around a 9% trailing stop would make sense.

This is very oversimplified and the ideal trailing stop % is entirely up to your judgement, but in any situation you should examine the stock history and also look at how industry is trending when determining your %.

On a related note, should I just fucking quit? Am I too retarded for this? How do you know when the market has beaten you? I'm a lawyer, and was always in the top of the class in school, but my horrible track record speaks for itself.

In 2015, I put 30k into oil "after" it crashed. I got in too early, my investments fucking tanked and I held those bags at 90% loss until the 2020 crash which turned them into a 98% loss when I finally sold. 30k down.

In 2018/19 I put about 10k into cannabis. I bought the fucking top of the hype train and it started to tank. I averaged down, and it never stopped sliding. I held those bags until the 2020 crash. 10k down.

In 2020, I learned from my 2015 failure and waited long enough after the crash to 'safely' get in, but then I fucked it all away on horrible trades anyway whil everyone is supposedly making shitpiles during this 'easy money' period. Another 26k down.

I've had about 4k in actual gains (all during the 2020 recovery) compared to all my losses, so my net after 5 years of this shit is around -$62k. My net worth is only about 30k, so it's not like I have mountains to burn. Why am I so fucking stupid? I have spent literally hundreds of hours reading about this shit, but I can't seem to put it into practice to actually make money.

Next week for covered calls I am doing SWBI, CCL, and KR. SWBI and KR are quite solid. CCL is a bit of a gamble. You can also try Oracle, they are decently safe but also less rewarding. Last week I did CHWY, GME, and PLAY. CHWY and GME were good, but PLAY did not work out as well (just as I feared). Remember to do your own research!

In other news, you might want to learn about bonds. If you go to your brokers bond search, you can search for bonds with certain ratings and Yield to Maturity. The rating indicates the likelihood of bankruptcy, with A's being near zero, B's are safe-ish, and low B's and C's are probably going bankrupt. The yield to maturity is the percentage per year you make by holding the bond. This means if you bought a bond at 12% YTM, you're effectively earning 12% guaranteed per year. If a company does go bankrupt, it doesn't necessarily mean you lose everything either, you might still receive partial payment or shares/bonds in a new company if it survives a restructure.
I have bought Nordstrom, Royal Caribbean, and US Steel bonds for 10%+ YTM.

kyber and uniswap.
The problem is I had 5-6 different coins, each with a small value. So I would 'short' them all, pay $20 in transaction fees to get them into fiat, and then pay the same amount to get them back into crypto.
This doesn't even take into account the .3% they took every time.

There is too much uncertainty in the world at the moment, In retrospective I don't know why I even invested this week knowing the world was going to shits around me.
China is dumping us dollar for gold and they're threatening to use a different form of currency for international trade, that can spark ww3 but hopefully not, Corona lock down 2.0 is just around the corner, once a bunch of boomers start to clog the system again they'll revert back to stage one lock down.
We're officially in a recession so the GDP is totally fucked.
Jerome just announced they'll keep the printer going steady for the foreseeable future which is going to make more countries dump the dollar and jump on to something else.

Dude, we're watching the death of an era and China can be blamed for it.
We will see some more shit before this year is over, guaranteed.

Do you really want to throw money on the stock exchange come Monday under those circumstances, let's admit that those of us who were yelling bullish last week were fucking high on greed and easy gains.

The first red day will come as a shock, but panic won't set in initially. You have to remember that Thursday was literally the first red day ever for a huge number of traders. And it bounced up again on Friday, so everything is fine.
But then Tuesday will suddenly be red too. People will be laughing nervously, but it's okay. Jerome is going to speak, he'll make everything okay.
By Wednesday there won't even be a green at open. People will be falling over each other trying to dump airlines and cruise ships.
On Thursday blue chips will feel the pain.

You are living under a rock if you don't think inflation is high. Many measures are close to 10%. The government increasing subsidizing food, energy, and people slowly downgrading their lifestyle is what keeps people from realizing it.

That said, inflation is not necessary good for stocks prices. Both supply and demand are fucked, and company's costs will increase as well. They won't make money so they will have to sell equity to stay afloat. Dividends will be cut, buy backs will be stopped (already have mostly), and lost of companies have already started issuing more shares to shore up their finances. Market capitalization of companies may increase with inflation, but not stock price.

When I bought in at ATH I was absolutely on FOMO, and that was absolutely stupid and my fault. One of the reasons I did it was because I looked at the fundamentals and prospects of the companies I was buying, compared them to the rest of the cannabis industry and I thought they were a bargain. When I averaged down later I was doing it completely based on fundamentals of what I was buying compared to the rest of the industry. At the time when I was buying in, analysts were projecting the cannabis industry to be much bigger and more profitable than it turned out to be. Fundamentals and prospects all seemed to point to profit, and growth.

The problem was that everything was overvalued enough that ALL fundamentals were out of line, so there wasn't really a proper baseline for comparison within the industry. If I had been comparing fundamentals to other industries, the problems likely would have been obvious. Plus the ongoing fact that fundamentals are increasingly irrelevant to stock performance over "short" (like 3+ year) timeframes, even profitable companies can see years of stock decline (certainly some of my holdings have) even while zombie companies can have stock continue to climb.

Anyway, I learned a few things from this experience.

1. I will never buy ATH, even if I think it is supported by fundamentals or technicals.
2. I will never buy stock that is getting significant/frequent media attention.
3. I will never buy into a fledgling company or industry unless I am completely prepared to lose the entire gamble, and therefore I should invest less.
4. I need to pick better comparisons for fundamentals.

Look at the price history of UCO. If oil dives again, UCO will probably get murdered 90% again, while the upside is like 50% at best? Oil is pretty high right now, not much upside.

Retail panic selling with weak hands the last few days literally prepped the bull for the big bank kikes

Stocks are already at a discount, some gave them another 20%+ further off

Why do you always let them win?

Some are solid, some are memes but I've whittled stock depressed by corona in a few different sectors in addition to yours to.....

HAL and either RDSB or XOM

MGM literally prints money when open and has plenty to keep it going, people are itching to get out and it will bounce, maybe another leisure stock like CCL or EXPE

TSN, SYY or maybe CHEF

RUTH, PLAY or DENN

WFC

CLF, ARNC

LUV, SAVE

Although a 2nd wave or bad corona news will tank these more than the overall market....

Well, JP? Is the stock market a reflection of the economy or not? If so, you are in the biggest bubble in history and if not, you're inflating it into meaninglessness. You can't have it both ways

Does JPM, knowing stonks will go up 47% by EoY, put their money where their mouth is? Are they all in SPX 4000 calls? Of course not, what these banks say and do are never the same, and their predictions are almost never right.

Same here anon I made 200k off a 20k investment buying airline cruise company and hotel puts pre chinkflu based on well thought out rationale, and now I've lost 100k of that betting on the dead cat bounce that wasn't on nothing more than a hunch and still bleeding out around 3k on puts every fucking day. I know I should just sell everything now and get out with what's left but its tough to make that call. I'm going to see what happens on Monday. If markets are green I'm selling and red I'm holding
