I'm the author of the post. I was just pointing out to the person to whom I was replying that it is not _necessarily_ the case that, if we get a second leg down on the stock market, gold stocks will crash too. I gave the example of Homestake Mining, which, as you see from the chart, went up 87% at the same time as the Dow went down 85%. Over the next several years, Homestake Mining went on to perform extremely well, eventually going up 500%; a circumstance which puts the lie to the notion that gold does not thrive under deflationary conditions.

It may well be true, for all we know, that gold stocks will crash with the market again; but, because that isn't a certainty, I'm only holding 33% of my net-worth in cash, and retaining my 66% precious-metals position.

>> No.19685620

>>19685399

It's possible we may get a second leg down in mining stocks, especially if the markets melt down again. It's not a certainty, but it is a possibility. So you might only want to buy a part of your position now and wait to see if the prices drop later. I'm hedging with 33% cash.

https://www.sprottmoney.com/Blog/fed-tapers-liquidity-raising-the-risk-of-further-downside-david-brady-june-4-2020.html

According to David Brady, miners may go down somewhat in the short-term, but will really take off to new heights once the market crashes and the Fed has to prop it up again with a cap on yields.

Impossible when yields are this low. In 2008, nominal yields were still 5%. That's how ten years of Q. E. could cause this long bull-run in stocks. The economy is much sicker because of it. Now yields are only 0.7%, inflation is much worse, and even 1% yields might crash the market. In fact, the market might crash even as it is. If yields spike, which could happen any day now, the market will definitely crash. The Fed isn't offering enough Q. E. to suppress yields and prop this bubble up. That's why we had the massive sell-off yesterday. Without YCC and or negative Fed funds, this market will probably collapse.

I get most of my things from coin dealers. Just bought my bars there today. I'm a Cali fag, so everything is mostly closed due to the virus. Drove 2 hours to get silver. I only paid $4-6 over spot for my most of my Britannia and no tax. I have a good relationship with my dealers, they let me buy the nicer coins with little or no premium. I want to buy mercs, but they rarely come in. My dad buys them every time so I can't get any. I sold all of my walkers for ancients 'bout a year ago.

anon you got 2 decent options, online stores are reliable and usually pay out almost as much as they claim lol, I've sold to one before and the price they quoted was like 10 or 15 cents lower then their site claimed... second and usually better is the local coin dealers, since you don't have to pay shipping and insurance this guys usually even out in price compared to the large online places.
avoid pawn shops, most won't even pay spot on govt coins. and local in person deals are best, but I would suggest all partys being heavily armed since you're dealing with a lot of cash...

Sell to others on Ebay or Offerup when dealing with aesthetic silver. 100 oz bars are hard to dump on the general public bc most people don't save that kind of money to afford it. Short answer, markets are down because it's the top of the dead cat bounce.

Retail investors have been flooding into the stock market in record numbers. Normies have been "investing" (gambling) so much that they are stopping out institutional investors. They're making the charts insane, look at the Hertz chart mooning AFTER Hertz declared bankruptcy.

So basically the market is red hot off a bunch of idiots stimulus money, everyone knows there's a 2nnd corona wave that'll be worse, and people are still losing their jobs & jobs aren't coming back. There was a federal reserve meeting Wednesday that apparently sufficiently spooked everyone enough to start the waterfall down to SPX <200.

What makes it so bad is these people are in more dire straits than someone on a UBI would normally be. They are suddenly out of a job and behind on bills. They are in WORSE STRAITS than someone on regular UBI would be, which means there should be MORE PRESSURE to spend their stimulus checks on essentials. the "autonomous zone" is a complete fucking joke. these are trust fund hippies doing a bad LARP, not even on the level of SCA or RenFaire. it's a very boring woke block party that doesn't know when to stop.
Trump is likely seeing memes about it and getting riled up (for example that territory map was drawn up as a joke, which should've been obvious given it had "regime-occupied Safeway" on it)

The problem you and other UBI proponents run into is that while you are well meaning, you look at UBI and say 'I would responsibly use that money to survive, and if someone like me can handle it, then it should be a no brainer! I'm nothing special'. And that's where you're wrong.

Most people are stupid. Up until the Victorian era, the trend was that overall intelligence of the populations of Europe and north America was increasing. Consider what centuries of executing people for crimes (even petty crimes) does in removing low control, violent individuals from the pool. Consider that being too lazy to gather fuel meant your family froze, and that fucking your wife constantly when you were too poor to eat meant that your children (and probably the wife) would starve. There is a clear disparity between the breeding outcomes of the upper and lower class that's visible even in Victorian fiction. The more capable, on the average, had more kids survive to breeding age.

This changed with the industrial revolution, which made energy cheap and distributed the capability and economic output of a few bright persons down to the peons. People who would have frozen now had coal or gas heating cheaply. Improvements in agricultural practice allowed not only trade surpluses of food, but for more than could reasonably be consumed by the hungry. Suddenly, many of the constraints against the survival of the stupid and the impatient were lifted, and a new subclass of people that nature would have killed was brought into existence. And these are white Europeans we're talking about.

They are the reason I don't have much faith in /pol/ tier ethnostate dreams. They are the (primary) reason UBI cannot work. They are fundamentally takers in any society, and I can't disagree with calling them goyim, since they act like cattle; content to graze, fuck, and be slaughtered. I'm honestly glad that our fake fiat system is going to bleed them dry. They deserve it.

The sheer volume of pre-33 gold still available today should tell you what level of compliance that had. The only people that EO hit were 2 gold whales that didn't offshore their holdings. And remember, this was back when people still kinda trusted their government. We're 90 years removed from that, in a nation where people are daring the feds to come take their guns.

Who the fuck are you going to get to lead the SWAT stack over some bullion? Are you going to do it? You can't get most of these overpaid mall cops to lead on a drug bust, let alone serving a warrant on firearms possession. By the time you mustered the political and enforcement will to go this balls deep, most people would have 'lost their gold', sent it off shore, buried it in a field, or prepared to actively shoot your goons.

Before the end of the Gold Standard, the price of the dollar was set in gold, not the other way around. The breaking of the link between PMs and the dollar for private citizens was by definition the first time the dollar had a price somehow "separate" from that of gold, since previous to that, the DEFINITION of a dollar (not the other way around) was a certain weight of gold or silver.

>> No.19695292

>>19695250
If you hold a silver dollar, this concept is easy to grasp. A silver dollar MEANS one ounce of silver. This isn't a setting of the price of silver (actually, a silver dollar of course has a market value of just over $20 in FRN but putting that aside for the moment), it is a defining of what a dollar (or in this case, a silver dollar) is.

A silver dollar can rise and fall like crazy in terms of fiat FRN, GBP or other notes, but it's always "a silver dollar" because what it is, one ounce of fine silver, is the definition of a (silver) dollar.

I think what people don't take into account as well is how unwilling law enforcement/the military are to break into their own civilians homes and steal their shit in front of them. Most will just outright refuse to do so.

Guys please help a Europoor silverlet. My country has 20% tax on silver. Where can I buy it cheapo? Our local goldberg sells Austrian philharmonic for 52.5/g, can I get it more cheapo elsewhere?

Is it also possible to buy a few natsoc geldt/silver coins just for the keks?
