19611391 No.19611391 [Reply] [Original]

It's 2020 and people are still throwing money away on counterfeit copies of Monero, Uniswap scams and p&d's... Whilst newfags and degenerates come here looking to "get rich quick" Monero chads are keeping it cool playing the long game.

Monero's end game is going to take a lot of people by surprise.

sup senpai.
looks like we finally had a little bit of a pullback in daily transactions over the past few days. Probably catching its breath before going back up again.

Sup bro
Without a doubt. The daily transaction chart looks so primed for a breakout it's unreal. Once this thing goes off there's gonna be no stopping it.

here is the updated chart.
There are two recent news articles by the way that should help monero long term. One being that coinbase is teaming up with the irs and dea to track bitcoin transactions...this is something we have been preaching for a while. It has lead to people tweeting #deletecoinbase. But it also is leading people to use Monero to "break the chain".
Another big story is the recent chain analysis endorsement of zcash and dash. Chain analysis coming right out and saying that almost all zcash transactions are visible and therefore they don't mind people using it. What a surprise.
I'm not sure if the xmr transactions are going to stay lower for the time being because of less darkmarket usage overall (due to a reopened economy?) but right now we are in the 9.2k range...hopefully we get that up to around 10 by the end of the day.

xmr is gonna be a top 3 coin eventually, privacy coins are too important. I think once governments try banning them it will make them moon hard. People want what they can't have.

ah yes, the literal fork of monero that has none of the prestige of Monero's dev team, a miniscule fraction of Monero's user base (and anon set), and absolutely zero adoption is going to outgain Monero. Go shill somewhere else faggot. It's a dead giveaway you are a retard shill because telling OP to fuck off for supporting the most popular privacy coin, of which Loki is literally derived from, shows you have absolutely no ethics and are just a moonboy tribalism fag.

You can get XMR on Binance or another big exchange.

Uniswap is saturated with scams right now, refrain from buying anything off uniswap as it's probably a scam

aside from the usual influx of moonboy shills, this thread is full of fantastic chads and hits all the main points we want our n00bs to hear.

If you believe in this project not just for the financial gain, I highly recommend that you seize the opportunity in these times of instability and unrest to evangelize. Link any of your literate friends who are upset with the system to this article:

https://www.monerooutreach.org/stories/the-tool-for-renewal.html

>"As central banks began to print money after the complete dismantling of the gold standard in 1971, a new fiat system (US Dollar) was born that would become the global monetary peg, determining the value of most other currencies. People are now seeing the unintended consequences of this financial system, namely socio-economic fragility, inequity, and disparity. They want something better that balances the power. This time we do not need a revolutionary war to achieve it, though. We can simply opt out peacefully by choosing to use a technological financial system that is being built by and for the people."

>> No.19616061

>>19615795
That's true!

Investing in gold is a smart fuckin idea and one I'd recommend to anyone. If the USD or any other global currency was backed by gold I would be much less inclined to think Monero was the optimal financial option.

Even acknowledging that, cryptos are backed by the work that goes into generating them, unlike fiat. The creation of new monero requires that miners invest in expensive equipment and pay their power bills. Any time you spend monero, it exists and is possible because someone else put their value into refining it and maintaining the blockchain.

Plus, just like fiat, a large swath of people have put their faith into monero- they use it as currency, which is more than the lions share of cryptos can claim. The first powerful use case for crypto was to buy and sell prohibited items anonymously, and crypto has continued to be used for that reason, volatile market be damned, for the past decade.

As this chad >>19611567 noted, institutional powers are cracking down on bitcoin's privacy, and soon any DNM vendor with any sense will be switching to XMR, bringing his customers with him. This will only grow our user base and bring XMR closer to real world adoption.

Transacting with true privacy is a niche desire in 2020. It won't be in 2030.

>> No.19616161

One thing that concerns me is network security.

I know the XMR algorithm is optimized for CPU, and this is great because it allows anyone to mine it. But what is stopping a malicious entity/government from renting cloud computers and performing a 51% attack?

>> No.19616292

>>19615212
If you can't handle the banter then don't come into Monero threads shilling some shitcoin and telling Monero supporters to fuck off. You are jumping on Monero's clout to try to pump your bags. Your coins serve no utility and they aren't being adopted.

>> No.19616318

>>19616161
That is the point of the Random X CPU optimization. It makes it easy and competitive for other bodies to accumulate mining resources. Making it not worth the effort.

I hold Monero but honestly I don't see it outperforming ETH percentage wise, even though it has much smaller marketcap, let alone other smaller caps that never had altseason.
Looking at the chart, ETH is also closer to breaking out and Monero is doing absolutely fucking nothing.

It's one of those coins like LTC where the biggest gains happened yeeears ago and I don't see it pumping much more than the ATH of 0.035 which is only a 5x from here.

I feel like I'm cucking my portfolio by holding such low reward coin but I guess it's a hedge of sorts.

>cryptos are backed by the work that goes into generating them
Not really. They are released on a fixed schedule regardless of how much work goes in. Early moneroj were created for much less work than current ones, yet all moneroj are fungible. There's no fixed rate of XMR/hash like there is for a note backed by some amount of gold. It's valuable because the market's consensus is that it's valuable. That consensus is possible because, among other things, XMR offers scarcity and security.
