reposting for new thread

I never did any trading before
I decided to try it out because of the Corona dip and the Oil price being lowered.
put £300 pounds in a few things and left it there for a few weeks
I'm £400 pound up.

I think it did good for my first attempt but this does feel like gambling. I only did it because the dip was an easy jumping on point.
what should I do now?

Covered call plays for this weeks earnings.
Ticker, Price, Rating, Strike, Premium as % of current price
PLAY 18.89, Bearish, 19.0C 12.4%
GME 4.14, Bearish, 4.5C 7.2%
CHWY 48.44, No rating, 48.5C 6.4%
PLCE 52.16, Bearish, 55.0C 5.7%

I think CHWY has the best upside, literally everyone is ordering for their pets from them.
PLAY has the biggest downside, they still aren't open and are basically still fucked.

This is how I play the market now:

1. I get a goal in mind. My goal this year is to buy a Tesla 3 Performance cash, that's $65k.

2. I give myself limit on top and bottom gains, I need to make $5k a month so I need to be a little risky, but not so risky that I lose it all. I won't choose options with such high volatility that intraday change could make or break me. I try to keep only 35% of my equity leveraged into options.

3. I get the fuck out once I'm up. I don't care if the stock shoots to 4000% after I sold. If I make $300-$500 a day I'm happy.

4. Always sell before earnings if you're playing earnings.

5. Never pick expiry dates less than 2 weeks out.

These things have helped me enormously in preventing loss and being a faggot.

You shouldnt sell if a stock is mooning like that. Let your runners run, while constantly setting a new pullback limit from the highs. So lets say you want to make atleast 100% gains on a stock. So it moves from 5-10 bucks. Rather than selling at 10, you let it run. If it pulls back 20% to 8, sell. So, lets say it's moved to $11 with no pullback. Your new exit point is now 20% of $11, so 8.80, in the case of a pullback that far.

This strat will let your stock constantly run, while allowing ignoring smaller fluctuations, and will let you exit in the case that it drops heavily.

Bears start celebrating? How many times are we gonna do this? The most basic of basic TA is don't short a high volume push upwards (like Friday) and don't short bull flags. And the opposite if you're long and trying to hit the reversal just right. Don't go long on high volume red, don't go long on bear flags.

What if I buy 2week SPY calls, and then sell them and re-buy as soon as they go up enough to buy +1 calls a further two weeks out.

Say I buy 2 calls ITM for $600 each at 320, and after 1 week they go up +50% (which takes about 1% gain on SPY). I now have $1800 - so I sell out and immediately re-buy 3 calls again for $600 each at 323 the new "normal" a further 2 weeks out. Now that I hold 3 calls, I only need them to go up about +33% (which takes about 0.75% gain on SPY) in order to be able to afford 4 calls. When I own 4 calls, I only need them to go up +25% (which takes about 0.5% gain on SPY) in order to sell and buy 5 calls, etc.

Since I'm trading 2week calls, even 3-5 red days in a row won't necessarily ruin my trades, and as long as the overall market is trending up the odds that I will sell green within 2 weeks is extremely high, and the relative gain I need in order to 'upgrade' to +1 becomes increasingly smaller (10 calls only needing a 10% gain, or about 0.2% on the SPY).

Is this the fastest way to turn a small investment into a fortune during a bull run?

Of course even 2 red days could drop options to near $0, but I'm talking about how long you need to average in a bull market in order to (reasonably) reliably go net positive. If you get some red days and your options drop to 0, and you continue to hold for another 5 days and they recover then the trade still pays out.

If SPY legitimately drops over a 2 week average, the market has turned and holding basically anything is fucked, or you should start buying puts.

soju is literally fucking diluted ethanol if you're drinking the commoner shit. what the fuck is wrong with you. There's a reason it's 1000 won. somaek is pretty fun tho. You should go to korea with some friends that are a little more adjusted than you if they don't have their borders permantly closed by the time you get around to it. the friends should make a connection with an english teacher or a native online. maybe you'll grow a little. Great party country for young'ins, especially if you're not chasing tail (because Japan is better for that). Shoot for Hongdae or Busan.

What I'm proposing is basically the same thing as what leveraged ETFs do, which we already know are hugely successful during bull markets and fail hard during bear markets. Theta decay doesn't change the premise, it just adjusts the calculation - eg how much you should reasonably hold in cash to prevent your whole portfolio going to zero when the market finally turn and preventing you from continuing the strategy.

The point is that if the market is in a bull run, why not make the most of it? If you actually lose money on a 2week SPY trade, especially during the current market, then there has obviously been a serious shift.

If both are say, $10 a share, and SPY goes down 20%, then back up 25%, it'll go 10->8->10, but SSO would do 40% and 50% and go 10->6->9. it should be treated like banks. the short term rise to $40 has no explanation other than hopes or inclinations that demand will return to levels that are over the break even points for us producers so they can stay solvent long enough for oil to return to higher prices. the dumb part of this logic is that production cuts have no incentives at all unless they're getting a huge subsidy. These oil producers are going to pump out as much as they can to make a profit and it's it's going to fuck them over until there's a big surge in demand, which would likely only be done via a very hot war. They're going to be red for a while and need to be able to survive it somehow. There's a ton of risk to going long on oil. Much more risk than the big banks.

Lot of people here have no understanding of risk management. Many of you just made some good money the past month. Now you have to learn how to keep it.

Here is an example.
I think the big banks have room to go up. Citi is around $60 and has a 52wk high of $80. Now the stock may go down or may go up, but I think it will go back close to $80. I just don't know when. So I bought shares of stock. If the stock goes down I don't care because I don't have a problem holding for two months and getting the dividend. Also if it goes down a lot I'll buy options because I think it is temporary.

This is risk management. I think the trendline is good, but I don't know when. This implies I should buy the stock and if it goes down I still get the dividend and can perma hold for a long time. At the current price level options are too risky.

DCAing into TQQQ over the long term gives much better returns than SPY over the long haul. even accounting for crashes. It's fine to hold. Better to have a strategy for better risk adjusted returns but isn't necessary if you consistently invest into it and can stomach the downturns.

Do you understand it though?

It is like putting $10 in the market and the market is crabbing, but you still lose a $1. Then of course down or up is leveraged. So your gains and losses are multiplied. It is like black jack where the house has an enormous advantage.

Be very careful with the cost of the option.

Say X is trading at $50

Call one
$45 aug 1st trading at $5.50
Call two
$50 Aug 1st trading at $0.70

The second option costs a lot more.

Making 10x the money first and then putting it into high dividend value stocks seems like a good idea. Again, I wouldn't buy TQQQ right now to hold forever. I'm just saying buying a leveraged ETF to hold for even a decade doesn't *always* lead to bad results.

There are many kinds of death. Most practical use of the word immortal traces back to the Greek God's. In that case there are many examples of the Gods that have lose of limb or other permanent injury.

Immortality in the modern form means you can't die of old age. Invulnerable is also questionable. To me being able to sit on a star like our sun without any damage makes you invulnerable. But there are reactors hotter than the sun on Earth.
