it's also circumstantial. because of covid im making time and a half from the govt for the rest of the year at least (assuming everything goes well i'll go back to my job next year, i still have the job i just can't go because of covid). i have a good relationship with my parents and still live at home, so my cost of living is extremely extremely low, i also carpool to work so i don't need a car. all of this alongside getting into daytrading a year ago means with all of the money im saving, i'll be able to retire when im 40, eventually inheriting my parent's house that the mortgage is already paid off on. hell, right now for the rest of the year im basically living the retired life, i get paid 1.5x more than my normal job and hang out around the house all day, it's great. im a musician and get to focus on that and playing vidya all day, and cooking. im surrounded by nature and do lots of yard work which also will improve the property value over time, get plenty of exercise and stay healthy. i live very cheaply and save a ton of money which also gives me the capital to daytrade and make even more.

if your idea of being rich is buying a yacht or a lambo or some other dumb unnecessary shit, you're fucked. the real key is figuring out how little you need to truly be happy for the rest of your life. for me it's my family/friends, a good computer with internet access, guitar, and coffee/maybe some weed from time to time, good food/drink and nature. that shit doesn't cost much for the most part, and im happy, and don't even have half a million yet.
