It's very important to care about what actually matters or is important to care about. If you let the MSM or mob dictate what you are emotional or interested in you already lost.

These riots are unimportant in the grand scheme of things and actually bullish for Trump / Republican election chances. The media fanning them is most probably because the media is low IQ and have terrible ideas of what actually advances their causes. AKA their anti-racism push over the past decade is highly counterproductive but nicely distracts from financial issues in the country by dividing.

In any case do not short/sell because of these events. I would look to the waning obsession with fear mongering covid as a huge positive. This gives them a nice out and rotation from covid into some other topic without them having to admit re-open early states have been successful.

The riots and burning themselves are incredibly good for Trump if he runs on law and order vs a weak biden.

kek, my state is a bit different. Last 4 years the republicans had it all (Both legislative chambers + Gov mansion). So you'd think shit would get done. Wrong. Gov was an ass clown. Kept putting his foot in his mouth. Tried to uh change the retirement benefits for current employees. Which is a big fat no no for a lot of reasons. Then like I said he was an ass. The result. His proposed changes went nowhere. Then he had the nerve to take it to the state supreme court. They thru it out. Unconstitutional was the ruling. Cause the state pensions are binding. For all current employees it's a contract with the state. The state must stick to the terms. Or face the music in the form of lawsuits out the ass. plus the wrath of voters. All while trying to keep her voice normal and not lose her breath speaking with an important client over the phone. She takes a brief moment to mentally curse the cuppa bros. Why did she listen and drink that third cuppa when she knew she'd be working late and too busy to leave her desk?

Sasol is undervalued. The decline in stock value prior to the Coronavirus was due to the LCCP project went over budget in Q4 of 2019, they had a fire at the ethoxylates unit in Jan., then unexpected the price of oil dropped to less than $35 a barrel, and Sasol wasn't hedged. The drop in oil, the LCCP project cost overrun, and fire in Jan. all happened just a couple months prior to the Coronivirus where oil prices took a nose dive. They had to restrict production in South Africa due to the excess of fuel caused by the Coronavirus. All this said, Sasol is still generating profits. They took actions several years prior seeking to diversify away from fossil fuels and into the chemicals market. Their future is an intergrated chemicals industry. The LCCP project is 99% finished. The last unit is starting up in June. June or early July is when you should expect to see this stock jump. Currently we will see days like these where the price drops. However, it will not be long before the market notices that Sasol is severely undervalued. In the next couple years, this stock will return to $22+ a share.

If Sasol fails, a whole country will suffer. South Africa energy needs depends on SSL. MRO fails and the executives just retire early and join somewhere else as a board member.
Sasol definitely mixing things up though, rough times for a little while.Sasol is essentially the Chevron of South Africa before it went to chemical business it was purely natural gas and oil.

Sasol's business plan is below for managing their debt during this crisis.

>SARS 1 infection dates ended around early June worldwide, that's the closest to this virus
SARS1 infected 8000 people total in the world, had higher lethality and lower R0 and did not have asymptomatic spread, which means it was logistically possible to extinguish it with targeted lockdowns, which is what happened.
SARS2 has infected millions world wide and will not go away like SARS1 did. The best we can do is trying to find the balanced level of social distancing where the increase is not so big it overwhelms hospitals, but if this board is anything to go by the American toddler-tier attention span has now been exhausted and millions of deaths are apparently an acceptable price for not having to pay attention to a global pandemic for more than a few months.
America will have a very hard time, it will have been entirely preventable and will be completely the fault of idiots like you. You will call me a cuck for knowing math which is ironic on a finance board, but there you go, the idiocy of the American bull knows no bounds.

You are so fucking dumb. Covid kills 1.2% of all infected, 25% of deaths are between 45-65 year olds. R0 means entire country infected within a year given no social distancing. This translates to currently about 25,000 dead between 45-65 and will turn into about 500k-1M dead 45-65 year olds when we reopen, which is what is about to happen. This “goal post” is not moving. It’s what the math tells you, if you have enough brains to read it. You may call 2-4 million burgers, with about a quarter under 65, a non-event and only retards care, some do this, but it’s more likely you just don’t know math and have deluded yourself into thinking it’s over.

> 0.3% - 0.7% IFR
That’s from using serology tests that gave way too many false positives and statistically insignificant sample sizes. Essentially that was the good (but incorrect) news from the first American serology tests.
Then came the only serology study worth a damn in terms of statistical significance and test reliability, the Spanish country wide study. It showed that IFR was a stable 1.16-1.17% regardless of which region you calculated the number for, which is an extremely strong indicator that the number is correct.
So IFR is 1.2%, a number that should only be minutely adjusted to account for difference in elderly/sick frequency of American vs Spanish populations (and I’m guessing America is more overweight than Spain so if anything the number should be nudged up a bit for us).

Your link states that IFR of 0.4% combined with 35% asymptotic infected gives an IFR of 0.3%. This is absolute, math-challenged nonsense. The IFR is already given and does not change by number of asymptomatics.
But even the 0.4% number is inconsistent with the best statistics we have, they would need to debunk the Spanish study to deviate credibly from it so strongly. They haven’t. CDC has been playing fast and lose with the numbers since the start of the outbreak, having had very few correct guesses (they started out by estimating IFR to 0.08%-0.16%, based on absolutely nothing but what would be politically expedient) and have very little remaining credibility after their continued fiascos. They have based their numbers on studies that (unlike the Spanish one) have been heavily criticized, and bottom line is to not trust their assertions but look at the statistics and data coming from the international community and doing the math.
It would be great if IFR were 0.4% but that suggestion is an outlier that most of the world discounts in favor of more reliable evidence from countries that do less to politicize their numbers.

I did too before covid. CDC has been a shitshow only surpassed by WHO in this saga. I can only speculate as to why, but if you have been following everything like a maniac (I have) your faith in the CDC would have taken a big hit.
Spain, on the other hand, while certainly unable to hold a candle to American scientific quality when we actually try, has not been credibly challenged as to the ceracity of their numbers, that have since been reaffirmed by the French study.
You can trust who you like, but we’re about to see who is right, CDC or the Spanish intellectuals, and I have zero faith remaining in the CDC to get this right, as it would be a first.

The thing you're missing here is that the lockdown never did anything in the first place besides put the lower and middle classes out of jobs and brew the pot for civil disobedience/discontent.

Luckily the 60-90 year olds aren't out looting. It's all young kids WHO DON'T HAVE JOBS ANYMORE.
